i looked at those at one point but then saw all parts and book of instructions and hightailed it out of there. Is it still complicated as it was 10 years ago?

The Ram took a lot longer because you must drill the truck to mount the pivots. Tundra bolted on quickly using the Toyota mounting holes. Had to roll the instrument panel on the Ram and splice wires, this was before posilocks were invented, I spent the time to solder them in. Lots of time.

Amp Research offers a plug-play harness for some trucks, not sure for Tundra but mine wasn’t so I tapped in to kick panel by the front doors with posilocks they included. My 2021 wire colors were different from their instructions but you only tap each of the door switch wires, so it was fairly easy to pull the switches and trace the wires, four total.

Last the Ram did not have step lights while the Tundra steps have four leds that mount with double faced 3M tape, you have to drill four holes for the wire/grommets. Each light has 2 wires that connects with heat shrink butt connectors, get taped and zipped tied. The lights took some time but could bet deleted if desired.

My wife loved the Ram steps so they were a must on the Tundra. The step lights are nice but I never missed them on the Ram.

I like the idea of ground clearance plus a step but I worry about how easy it is to tear them up driving over tree branches and in and out of ditches and skidder ruts and such... do they do ok with that?? Is there any wires down around the rocker panel or frame?

i dont konw why they cant figure out to put a step built into the rocker panel under the doors like chev did with the rear side bumper step and bed side step in front of the rear tires on the HD

I ripped off 4 sets of running boards prior to switching to amps, dented one board on a rock once but that has been it. It still worked fine after fyi

is the company good with sourcing pieces and parts if you tear them up? Or do they make you buy part kits that includes a bunch of stuff you dont need?

I had a motor go out outside of warranty and contacted them. They sent me 2 new motors, new led lights and 2 new boards since I had slight flaking of the powder coating from said dent… all free of charge. They are awesome to work with.

So I wasn’t a fan of how they looked but I rented a uhaul pick up today to get some Reno material out of the house and damn they were amazing. Very sturdy with no play which was nice for a bigger guy like myself. I also appreciated the grab nook on the rails to hold onto while stepping up. Actually using it, I would welcome it in lieu of aesthetics.

DAEFF441-5C2E-48BF-B6D4-A4E9E1B97F6E.jpg Just finished the Bed Step install. This time I cut the piece under there and left the bottom piece in there for support. It is soooo much simpler and easier to do it the cutting way. Didn’t take much time at all. So to all that came up with this a Good On Ya!!! Once you have one you can not do without. One more item off the list on the 21. The bolts on the frame are a pain!!!:)

Nothing like working on a brand new truck because the manufacturer designed it wrong

At over sixty now a step all the way up to the bumper is no good. Why have one in the bumper? if you can step on that thing then you should just step on the bumper. I don’t think having an electric one in the new models is the answer either. To much electrical and not enough manual = more stuff that can go wrong. It’s all good. “To each their own” some stuff if I can I like to make it mine.
