Living in the North, "Ohio" we are constantly washing our trucks, underside, engine compartment, ect. The "shit" they put on the roads for "deicer" called a "brine" will eat steel away in a matter of months, not years.

Definitely. I use GUNK foamy and shine. Just spray the foamy, rinse with a hose nozzle on the mist setting (cover what's appropriate) then use the shine.

I keep engine running while washing it down

Afterwards I go for a short drive to get any settled water away for cavities....

A little of this and a little of that.
What exactly do you cover with plastic when washing the engine bay? Just the fuse box?

[IMG] Seriously my local self car wash has an engine wash/spray setting that I use from time to time and works quite well. I can ask the owner what the "engine wash" chemical he is using. Doesn't help you much now though.

Please help keep Gunk engine cleaner a legal product and use it at a coin opp car wash where the chemicals go thru waste treatment.

So is there anything in your engine that you should cover when using these products and spraying it out?

Well your fuse box already has a cover on it...but yeah i spray engine cleaner over all and let sit few minutes then hose off i have that water hose attachment that has a shutoff valve to create pressure to wash off dust buildup I haven't used my pressure washer as my engine is new and has no serious buildup then i use a electric blower it has more air than my gas leaf blower to blow off excess water

Can you get the engine foam wet? I plan to take the plastic engine cover off prior to spraying everything down with Gunk. Thanks for the help.
