    Hello all,

New to the forum, and a soon to be first time Toyota owner. Tried to search this in the 3rd gen forum and didn't find much.

I have a TRD-OR SR5 4x4 with a deposit on it and I'm overall excited about the truck. I initially was sold on the 14" screen, so I was looking at 2WD (bad personal decision avoided) Limiteds because it's what I can reasonably afford, but quickly realized the large screen wasn't that much more useful when I saw it in person, so I found the truck I'm now waiting on.

The only thing is, the SR5's that are coming out now, and the one I'm waiting on, have a manual driver's seat...Ultimately, it is rather frustrating a truck of this cost has a manual driver's seat being, but I never really change the seat when I drive so I can overlook it. However, I am concerned about the seating height, particularly for my spouse. Does anyone have any input on the seating height position. Is it adequate for shorter people?

Those of you who already have taken home a new SR5 will be a great deal of help! What's your experience with the comfort of the seat in general.

    Thanks for your time!

Does the manual seat not have height adjustment?

The computer chip shortage will continue to "show up" in the weirdest of ways in the oddest of places.

My 2017 SR5 based Tundra came with 5 way electric drivers seat.

From my understanding, it does not. I looked in the manual and have heard from others the height is static.

I know, I hate to spend more money on a Limited just for that, especially when I don't care for the Limited's accent colors. However, it may be necessary for my spouse. Time will tell.

Can confirm that the manual seat adjustments are pretty basic.

    You're pretty much limited to:
    • Slide forward & backward
    • Back - adjust the amount of forward or backward recline
    • Headrest - Up & down
There's no manual height adjustment like other vehicles that have the knurled turn knob (or the lever) to lift or lower the seat cushion.

I'm 6' 1" so the seat doesn't bother me. I commute about 45 mins each way 5x a week and the seat comfort hasn't bothered me since taking delivery a week ago. Coming from "basic" seats previously in my old Taco & 4Runner, the discomfort level of the manual seat in the SR & SR5 is (in my opinion) kinda being blown out of proportions. If you're stepping down from a luxury-trim truck, then I guess I can see the argument.

Sorry for the delayed response, but a huge thanks for the information! Has anyone in your family on the shorter side driven it? I'm only really worried about the height adjustment being necessary for my wife, not necessarily it being "manual" if that makes sense.

Our new 2022 SR5 has manual only seats. I'm 5'8 and visibility is fine, but wife is 5' even and she said its difficult to drive.

    Just kidding..

My 5' wife refuses to drive my truck, she says it's too big.
    But that's ok, I don't like driving her XT5..:D

    Welcome to the forum..

Sounds like it will be close then. She is 5'3" I'm 5'9". We may just have to make the decision when it actually arrives. I have yet to be able to find an SR5 in person, but drove the limited and definitely enjoyed the overall ride!
