It's not a dealer loaner, it is a dealer rental.
$40 a day, insurance caps out on a rental at $1500 per claim.
That is 37.5 days, and I'm on day 42.
The service advisor said he would try to get Toyota to eat whatever the insurance wouldn't cover.
As they should, it isn't my fault Toyota can't get the parts in to fix my truck..

Sorry to the OP for the thread drift.
If any of you considered cat shields for your Tundra but were on the fence about it, I'd suggest you do it if you're in a metropolitan area..
We have 4 catalytic converters, very likely to get hit..

It's loud as fu*k, has a loss of power, and started throwing codes after 15 minutes of driving it home.
It threw 2 more codes driving it to the dealership the next day..

One might find a local shop to run straight pipes until the cats come in, but that in itself is illegal.
As well there is no way I'm doing aftermarket cats.

Also noticed my stock pipes are double-walled for some reason.
I don't know enough about it to explain it.

    Again, sorry to the OP.:(
Trade that wrecked truck in on something you want...

Similar situation. I am trading in 17 4Runner TRD Pro hit twice in same spot with both noted on carfax. Damage was a creased cover and cracked rear panel. Both times replaced with new Toyota OEM panel and repaired at a Toyota facility with lifetime warranty on the work. The price offered on the trade is more than what I paid and its 5 years old with 56K on it.

New Tundra limited TRD OR due in 1st week in January. For me, and the current situation, it was a no brainer. Also, who-ever gets this 4Runner TRD Pro is getting a great ride. It is in perfect condition and a hell of an Off-Road toy.

Easiest way to determined diminished value is complete a trade quote without indicating accident and then with accident. Gives you a pretty good idea of value loss from accident. From direct experience going this route, Insurance for party backing into my parked vehicle started at $200. They tried every underhanded trick on low balling the amount. I held the line being polite presenting them with documentation on value loss with my lawyer's card. Had the $3000 check in a week.

Double walled Pipes used in area with higher risk of hitting something while off the road. You lose about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch in those areas. 4Runners have this on the cross-over pipe running under the transfer case. It's the lowest point with the exhaust and not protected.

Lol that's not the reason it's for velocity of the exhaust. Double wall exhaust has a smaller ID so it will create more low end torque..

It does this as well but main reason is protection

My guess is double walled to prevent heat loss. Colder exhaust moves slower. The pipe running under the t case is exposed to more airflow, thus it would cool considerably

The double wall is mainly there for keeping heat in, (helping scavenging) and also, helps keep noise down. Thin wall exhaust you’ll hear more engine. Put a set of headers on with a stock exhaust and you’ll defiantly hear exhaust noise more prominently from the engine bay

I 100% agree. I came from a long line of toyotas. A old pickup, a couple of 4runners, a 2017 tacoma SR5. Switching to the tundra is night and day! I won't go back to the cramped interior and loud underpowered engine.

Is your rental a 4cyl? That would exaggerate the lawnmower sound and feel.
