I put a deposit prior to Thanksgiving for a 12/13 build date. Build was pushed to 12/23 and as of yesterday was pushed to 1/5. Anyone else experiencing their original build date pushed out more than once?

Haven’t ordered one so can’t comment on that but it’s probably a good sign.

It’s a totally new vehicle that they’ve only been building for a few weeks at this point. So there’s going to be some mistakes and/or some things that engineers and quality control experts see room for improvement on. By stopping production to address those fitment issues, they’re ensuring your truck arrives perfect.

it would actually scare me if the San Antonio plant was running at max pace since day 1 of the 2022 Tundra assembly line with no down time and no fine-tuning of the process.

Build date 11/29. Got a call that the build was completed on the 30th. VIN Number changed !! First date 12/13, pushed to 12/23, now pushed to 12/30. My sales guy called me on Monday of this week - Said we are still a go for the 30th and "they lifted the hold on deliveries to the Southeast". I had no idea there was a hold. That is all I can tell you regarding my experience.

Based on the reply above, possible quality issues found halted production for a bit. Here is a video from Tim @ PickUp Truck Plus about his issue within a few days of ownership that prompted Toyota to send in engineers to his hometown dealership.

i was just going to mention that!

yeah I’d imagine they’re now having to modify that particular trim piece that was interfering with the lock mechanism.

Put a deposit down on a SR5 during November with ETA of 12/24. Dealer told me last week ETA moved to 12/28.

Any team member can stop the line. , i think that explains why there are delays with very early production. That’s a good thing though

Update today - date remains 12/30. When they asked Toyota for an update they said "It is currently waiting to be inspected". I had never heard that before. I am guessing it goes one or two ways now. 1. It passes inspection and is loaded to be delivered. 2. It fails inspection and thus is delayed for resolution of said failed inspection. That was my news today at 3pm

Did your dealer provide that level detail or does Toyota have a customer success / service team that can help?

My sales person asked his manager to "call Toyota". That was the response the sales manager at the dealership gave my sales person

My Platinum was built early December and has been at Gulf States Toyota since December 10th and has been pushed back every day since then. I got a text from my salesman today saying that thousands are on HOLD due to quality control check. My dealer is in Houston and delivery date is now around the 24th so something must be wrong and Toyota is working on a fix. Anyone know what's going on?

I'm in gulf states toyota region too. Mine was suppose to be built last week but my temporary vin still works on the website so I assume it wasn't. My dealer has no new information on it and still sais it will be here 2nd week of January but I highly doubt that. The order date sais November of 21. Did your dealer ever find out anything regarding delays?

I’ve heard rumors from some of my buddies who still work in automotive manufacturing that it’s a combo of quality/producibility issue (inherent to turning on a new production) and supply chain issues. I know that toyota and the rest of the world is still suffering a severe chip shortage

If anything it could be the lock issue that this guy had

My guess a lot of door lock issues being fixed and bad heated steering wheels. Also heard some stuff about oil pressure sensors.

My truck was built on 11/12. Dealer says it’s on shipping hold at the port in Jacksonville.
