Guys I’m having a heck of a time finding the right part for the OEM power tailgate lock. The one on sparks parts says it’s for a Tacoma. Is it the same thing? I’ve tried searching here but haven’t had any luck. Figured I’d ask here instead of making a whole thread. Can you guys give me a link?

This is the one I ordered from Amazon and it says it fits both Tacoma and Tundra.

I disagree. I have a 1794 and the chrome billet grill is growing on me. I think it adds a sense of style to the truck.

Which are the tabs that everyone breaks when pulling off the surround? I'm about to do this and haven't researched....

I don't mind the chrome grille, and I don't mind the chrome surround, I just don't like them together, as it's just too much chrome for my taste. So I like the chrome grille with the body colored surround, or the chrome surround with the black grille, or the mod that I did when I went with the body color surround and black grille.

Funny story - last summer we went camping in the Tundra down in southern Oregon. Big family reunion trip. My truck (before my grille mod, when it was all chrome) was parked by the picnic shelter. The sun was hitting it just right to reflect off the grille and hit us all in the shelter. It was terrible. I had to turn my truck around so the back was facing us as people were complaining. :D

Replacement grille came with chrome surround wrapped in white vinyl. Amateur attempt, not professionally done. Will put the limited grille with wrapped chrome and sell together.

Not sure I have the requirements for selling, but here are the leftovers. I removed the vinyl from the hood bulge. May take the time to get all the sticky residue off.

Princess castle is NOT for sale. Granddaughters would disown me.20211221_132712.jpg

This may be a minority position, but I say no swap. Reason? I have the honeycomb and every time I wash it, water collects in each and every opening in the grill, making it a colossal PITA to dry. If you don't wash/detail much or have a leaf blower, then it may not be an issue for you.

BFG A/T KO2s in stock size (275/65/18). No lift. I considered leveling it and going up a tire size or two like I have in the past, but I didn’t feel like dealing with any of it this time around. I regret it sometimes, other times I’m fine with this setup. I have too much other crap with wheels and engines that I spend money on anyway lol

Did you break any tabs? How much of a PITA was it and about how long did it take?

2 tabs were already broken on donor surround, none broken during swap.

I broke 2 tabs on my chrome surround when removing the limited grille. Work slowly, and a little heat wouldn't hurt to make them a little more pliable.

Took be about an hour for the swap.

Just the red. They hold the grille into the surround with 2 Philips screws on each side.
