    With the warmer weather (in the 60's) here in the Northeast last week, I decide to give the truck a good wash. I opened the hood and noticed something I hadn't seen before. See below picks. My thought would be mice. Has anybody ever come across this? What did you do? And did it keep the mice out of the truck?

    Not sure at this point.
    Found one under my engine cap yesterday. Got spun through the cam belts and shredded into pieces. :mad:

    I heard eucalyptus is good? Can anyone confirm?

    Did you lift the engine cover to see if there is anything under it? Rats will build a nest, not sure about squirrels.

    It's hard to say what works, as you're trying to prove a negative. I've recently had some activity under the hood that I suspect was mice or rats (based on droppings), so I've re-started spraying nightly with water with drops of eucalyptus and peppermint (15 drops of each in a quart sprayer). I haven't seen any more tracks or scat since. Just to be safe, I also added mesh to the openings to the cab to prevent any intrusion there (see this thread for details).

    @Tundra234, Yes I did lift up the engine cover and saw nothing. I also gave a good look around the engine compartment for any other damage or nests, and did'nt see anything.

    Things that I’ve found to work for mice, rats, and other associated vermin;

    Dryer softener sheets
    Peppermint oil ( available on Amazon )
    Irish spring green body soap in a bar
    Top cat mouse bait
    Snap traps

    Bitter apple didn’t do jack for me, peanut butter on a spring trap only attracted roaches.
