Did Toyota finally list the correct gas tank size for 22's? or the lawyers got involved?

I see them listing 32 gal instead of previous years "38 gal" minus the infamous 6 or 7 pump cooler(?) unusable gallons ...

Or are they using smaller gas tank now? Kind of doubt that.

Not sure of the physical differences in tank design, but Yota lists 2 available tanks based on options: 22.5 gallon (standard on SR & SR5) or 32.2 gallon (available option on SR5, standard on Limited, Platinum, 1794, TRD Pro)

This dude had got a video filling up his 22.5 gallon from "empty" and only gets 18-ish gallons in it, as I recall.

lol has this been discussed before?
I saw '22 stickers and it says 32 gal.
    My '16 says 38.

    I'm bad in math but figured 38 minus unusable 6 = 32

I think I got what you were saying. I think you figured Toyota started quoting the tank size based on the usable fuel amount instead of full capacity, given the issue with the 38 gal tank only having 32 gal usable. Makes sense to me.
I guess the consensus is that they did not.

Yes, in one bank if I had $1700, I could only withdrawal max of $200 without a big penalty (e.g. risk burning the fuel pump) They had a $1500 min required balance for checking and $300 min balance for savings.

I called the bank and they said the $300 (savings) or $1500 (checking) min reserved and unusable money was for cooling-off the bank interior (air conditioning? I assume) kind of like Tundra fuel pump needs 6 gal for cooling purposes ...

They reduced the tank size because the truck is overall a bit more fuel efficient. The range of the new 22 is about the same as years prior if not slightly better.

So now the F150 is the class leader in terms of range with the 36 gallon fuel tank.

I don't think the Tundra is that much more fuel efficient over the F150 to make up for the 4 gallons difference.

I dont think you can get the 36 gallon tank on the powerboost, but Im not 100% on that

    You are correct, you cannot.

I wouldn't buy a hybrid vehicle. For the non hybrid options, the F150 still has the largest gas tank and that's an important factor when towing longer distances.

Ok I’m no ford expert nor do I want to be

I was thinking total range and that model gets the best mpg , but I see what your saying

I was really hoping Toyota would have kept a ~ 38 gallon fuel tank and been a class leader in the range department.

I get it but the range wasn’t reduced in most instances since the efficiency is better but 32 is fine with me if and that’s a big if I decide to get one

The biggest instance I can think of is the most important to me, that's while towing.

Gas burners are going to average somewhere around 8-10 MPG while towing a 18-25 ft travel trailer, doesn't matter if it's a TT V6, a NA 7.3L or anything in between.

I don't think the average person cares about that and then it hurts them in other ways, I understand why they dropped it.

Anyone know about the sr5 with the long bed? I couldn't find an add on package that mentions the bigger gas tank like the short bed does in the sr5 trim.

My 3/4 ton came with a 26 gallon tank... got rid of it almost immediately for a titan 50 gallon tank. What was ford thinking for a diesel meant to pull?!

There's diminishing returns, 38 gallon tank weighs about 250lbs, 50 gallon tank would be even more. The larger tank size you add the less fuel economy you'll get.

I think it had more to do with payload personally. In the competition between manufacturers to get the slight edge over one another for class leader.

Yep, that's a good point too. Toyota payload is already bad as it is, imagine if they could make a 50 gal work.

    So . . . . Hypothetically . . . . .

if it was winter and the fuel pump was plenty cool enough on its own, you could run waaaay past empty. Like possibly 100+ miles after empty. If there’s about 6 gallon of fuel in there that “doesn’t count”.

Who wants to pull a Kramer and try it?

I’ve gone 50-60 miles several times after the light comes on with my 2013’s 26.4 gallon tank…and never filled more than 25 gallons. But I only avg 14mpg at best.

I’d go 90-100 miles after the low fuel light came on with confidence if I was averaging 18-19mpg.

Every new vehicle I buy I get the tank down until the warning light comes on. I then go fill up. From that I know my true range. In my Silverado's case I have 3.5 gallons remaining.

I'll do the same on the Tundra. To what I have read so far it seems I'll have a lot more in reserve when the light comes on.

I recently bought a 2022 Tundra sr5. I allowed it to get to the 10min es remaining warning light before I filled up with gas. From empty my tank is only taking 18 gallons before it starts to overfill. Should I be concerned? I thought the fuel tank size was 22.5 gallons.
