I take it that this is going to still be an issue on a 2020? Does it happen to every 5.7 or just if you're lucky?

My ‘16 isn’t leaking at 54K miles but mine also doesn’t have all that FIPG pouring out. Does all the ones that leak have that much gasket material oozing out? I see none on mine. Thanks.

I thought the ones that didn't have gasket material pouring out were at risk of leaking and they put enough when they do the repair for it to overflow. But I could be wrong.

Signed. Toyota needs to address this!
My 13 had this issue. Dealer put dye in the oil and had me drive it for a week then bring it back in. They claimed it wasn’t leaking bad enough to warrant the extensive repair. Even though it was them that noticed it in the first place. This was while the truck was still under warranty. A few years later, when the truck was out of warranty, they had the nuts to tell me it had started leaking again.

The very first time i took my '13in for an oil change after the extended warranty expired i get hit with an estimate for 10,179.00 in repairs. I snapped and made a lot of noise, the trucck was still running perfect but had started dripping on the driveway. I had spent 6 years building that truck. The dealer made right what toyota left undone for me. they gave me an extremely good trade value, and allowed me to remove all the electronics that i had installed and to keep my 37s that had like a thousand miles on them. Still it was heart breaking to have to say goodbye to her. The only reason i still drive a toyota after that experience is the dealer gave me 7year/100k bumper to bumper warranty that includes road hazzard and paintless dent removal along with a lifetime powertrain warranty and free oil changes for life.
I do love my new 21 tundra Sr5 SX except for the one condition that I'm only allowed to lift it 3inches to keep the lifetime warranty. They are installing the lift for me as soon as parts come in. lloks like 35s are the biggest thing i'm gonna be able to roll on this one. It will take years to get this one where i want it but this time when something like that happens again, i'll just cruise around in the loaner while they fix it. If they only new i average 500,000 miles on my vehicles they might not have wante to throw that warranty on the table. This may be the last truck i ever own as i go for the million mile mark. LOL
I'm new to the site and going to try to post pics of them both. the old and the new20180721_164133.jpg 20201105_192518.jpg

A law firm needs to get involved in order file a class action lawsuit - that may start the wildfire
I cannot remember if this was the method to get Mr. T to replace all of those rusted a decade ago, someone on this forum will have the backstory on that event.

Toyota should do like Subaru does.

Subaru sent me a letter saying 3 items that may go bad within 10 years or 100,000 miles. So they extended my warranty on these items to 10 years or 100,000 miles. So far no Problems, at 80,000 miles.

I think that a good policy for an auto maker.

Owned a 2010 DC Ltd 5.7L and it was flawless with 150K on it when I sold it. Currently have an '00 AC SR5 that I rescued but it's pushing 250K now, so I'm looking at buying either a '14 CM Ltd or an '18 SR5 DC next week, both priced about the same. Hoping for a good year-end deal. But after reading this and the other thread on the subject I'm getting leery. (Should have kept '10 :()

I have to laugh. Was talking to a diehard Toyota fan boy at work. He is convinced these leaks are user error. He also had no reason why, just that this is not a Toyota issue. :boom:He’s not the brightest bulb ar work.
