Hmm that is interesting. Not sure why they said they would need that as the hoses don’t rub on each other or the frame if you cut the hose to the correct length.

I'll snap a pic tomorrow of the hoses, seems they were left a little long.

Nothing crazy though. I think they were trying to make it as close to the way the stock 18s were.

It will be an easy fix to cut them to the proper length. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Will do. Thank you, I'll take a few pics and you can tell me if I should cut them or leave them be or use that little routing/hose holder thingy.

Went to homedepot and got 6 rubber clamps and separated the hoses , they were not rubbing but did it just in case and it cost me like 5$

This is at the back of the wind deflector where the rubber hoses connect to the hard lines at the bottom

Just so everyone is aware and not going out buying hose separators. If you remove the excess slack from the hose properly there is no reason to worry about the hose rubbing on anything to include the other hose to cause premature wear.

There will be a install video coming soon which will detail this process and the rest of the install.

It shouldn’t be an issue however, if you do decide to cut some slack on the hose I’d recommend pinning the thermostat open to allow the cooler to drain back to the pan. This will allow you to remove the fittings, slip off the hose, trim and reinstall without losing ATF.

Thank you. I was wondering if a bunch of fluid would come out of the line. I think I’ll just monitor the hoses for wear at this point and make adjustments if necessary.

I thought about something like that also. I’d rather not take the clamp and hose off to put the sleeve on. The hose will be stretched out where it was on the nipple and I feel it wouldn’t have as tight of a fit/seal as it initially did. I wonder if there is something that would slip around the line without having to take anything apart.

Was the truck level when conducting the procedure? If so, it’s not unheard of Toyota overfilling transmissions.

Summer of 2020 bought Nicks kit for my 4 month old truck, checked the fluid level before starting the install. I was surprised when I pulled the level check plug a full stream came out, not even close to a trickel.

Have any of you noticed the transmission shifting erratically when cold after installing the cooler. Mine will do some weird stufff when cold, rpms jumping up and down and some multiple shifts until the temp gets up over about 140. It’s done this to about every other morning when the truck is cold. Once it’s warm it shifts perfectly and does what it is supposed to as far as cooling. Just got back from a 700 + mile road trip and it did it both mornings when cold.I’ve checked the fluid twice and it was a little overfilled the first time but it looked perfect the 2nd time, still does it though.

Haven’t noticed any difference, I always warm up the truck though before I drive , only thing I can think off is your oil level but you already Double checked it

I believe Toyota has a different shift logic based upon the transmission temperature. That is why I recommend removing the pin from the thermostat so the transmission get to operating temperature as quick as possible as designed.

The pin is removed on mine, I’m letting the thermostat work as designed. I’m just not understanding why I didn’t experience this prior to installing the cooler, I was certain it had to be fluid level related but who knows.

Besides the ATF level, the colder weather is the only other factor I can think of.

Here is a preview of the installation instructions for the Genuine Cooling Systems transmission cooler for 2019-2021 Toyota Tundra with the Setrab Series-9 15-row cooler. When Nick posts the official version I'll edit this post and point to his version. I had already bought this kit a while back but hadn't got to installing it, and it was a pleasure to work with Nick both as a customer buying the kit, and working with him to make this install video. Thank you Nick.

    Too many, but not enough....
Is there a reason this was discontinued? Any issues? I just bought this kit and haven't installed yet, if there is a design flaw or something I don't want to install it.

Improved Racing is is redesigning the MHX-514 and increasing the price of the cooler by $50. Although the MHX-514 is a larger cooler, the Setrab Series 9, 15-Row cooler will maintain pan temperatures within operating range. Due to these reasons I decided to only offer the Setrab kit to keep it affordable.
