    hi all,

I recently purchased a yakima overhaul hd system and the tonneau attachment. The system has the mounts if I wanted to attach it to my truck bed. But I'm planning to attach it to my retraxpro. The condor xl will sit on top of the yakima. I got this setup because I read that the yakima overhaul hd has a static weight of 800 lbs, HOWEVER, after reading some more, yakima also has a 'yakima overhaul hd tonneau set' that has static weight of only 300 lbs. Both system look exactly the same, the only different is how you mount it to the truck.

If anyone has experience with this, I like to confirm what i'm thinking is correct:
    1. with the overhaul hd connected to my truck bed, it will handle 800lbs static weight
    2. with the overhaul hd connected to the tonneau track, it will handle 300 lbs of static weight
I have fired off an email to yakima support as well but they have not yet to respond.
    thanks,

ugh f. I'm new to this setup so I thought i did enough reading on this crap until i did a quick search on yakima's site and the tonneau set showed up. any other search for yakima overhaul hd list 800lbs, that's only for the tower now i'm guessing. didn't even think about the crossbar, i was under the assumption that the entire setup would support 800lbs. there are 3rd party cross bar I can buy to use with the overhaul hd right?

I don't have that info. :sorry: The Yakima HD was on my list for a while, but once I started comparing it to actual bed racks it was just too expensive. I also have no intention of using a bed cover, so I'm not as restricted. If I were you I would start looking for instances/reports/reviews of the Yakima HD failing with RTTs to see if it's something to worry about.

Ah, at a smoking deal I may have considered it, but the uprights alone cost more than the bed rack I opted for, so I wrote it off pretty quickly. Generally speaking, you aren't likely to have a rapid catastrophic failure (I think), so you may just want to run it and keep checking it during each trip. Look for any kind of looseness, metal fatigue, or hardware stress. It can happen to the best racks too. Especially if you plan to go crawling over rough terrain with it.

Let me know what you think of that Condor XL! Even with the minor price bump it's still way better priced than it's closest competition IMO.

the previous owner let it go for $550 with 72" crossbar, the whole kit would of cost me $1300 new. once my retraxpro get here and installed, i'm planning to take a trip up to Sedona, AZ for a couple of day stay. as for the condor xl, i was hoping they do a discount for black friday but instead they jumped up in price :D . I'll let you know what I think about it.

That's a good deal for that rack. I hope it works well for you!

I was worried about the price bump on Roofnest as well, but I just wasn't in a position to buy and store a tent. I am happy to see that the price was only increased by $100. That's far less than the 10% hike I was bracing for.

took the xl out last weekend. Quick review:

    1. easy to setup
1a. over the course of two nights, we kept finding holes in the velcro. the first night it was at the joint where the tent would fold out. 2nd night, it was the velcro above our head.
1b. none of the reviews on youtube or roofnest site said to check for velcros that weren't seal correctly.

    2. the mattress is thick and comfortable, the spouse pass out within a few mins on it.
2a. the sand mat was good, kept our shoes and feet from getting dirty

    3. tent condensate. it was pretty bad that it would drop down from the metal bar and onto my sleeping bag
3a. this might be a noob thing. I didn't crack any of the windows

    4. it only come with one led light strip.
4a. was a bit caught off guard on this one because other reviews showed led lights in the tent and on the bottom, i thought it came that way
4b. i'm scouting for some more led light strips

    5. tear down is a bit of a pain in the ass
5a. the materials doesn't fold in nicely, you have to adjust it one side then the other.
5b. after closing the tent, underneath, you can see some pretty big gaps between the base and the shell; however, after driving thru dirt road, it appear to remain clean.
