buying a full size truck for serious off roading always seemed dumb to me. Get a Tacoma for that. The tundra is a highway and gravel road rig to me.

    FUGLY IS RIGHT

Seems to be Little Man Syndrome. Toyota threw on that Big Mouth due to its Short Comings in the manly department.

I mean seriously…… 8 or 6…… Which would you rather have?

I like a little chrome sometimes. But that chrome has got to go on the front end. Maybe with some color matching it might be more palatable. At the moment it doesn’t do it for me. Maybe with time it will grow on me. As with most, they need some tasteful mods. When the first GEN came out, I loved it. I didn’t care for the second GEN right away but it grew on me as did the 2.5 GEN.

You talk about overcompensating with the grill and then completely contradict yourself with cylinder count. :monocle:

Someone has been parking a Lexus with that grill on my street lately and to me it sure does not look better in person at all?

    Is that a question?
I was referring to the Tundra looking better in person.
Seeing the truck as a whole instead of focusing of the front...YMMV

The Escalade and Lexus look awful.

    1st impressions and all.

Not that easy for me to get past the Face.

It was a statement layered with bewilderment.

Oh? How do you know there's not a physical latch on that chrome handle? You don't, and there is.

You're easily the most identifiable hater in this section. What's got you so mad and passive aggressive? Put away your jump to conclusions mat and take a chill pill.

Such a coincidence that this section is full of bashers that own a 2nd gen designed in 05/06. More specifically 2021 owners. Go find a different corner to cry in. It would be much more informative to everybody to read and gather factual information about the truck. Not emotional opinions.

Everyone ripping on the front end and this picture shows the front end of the first gen which I have. I never grew to love that front end and think this one is much better and I also think it will age better. Also I hated the back end on the "leaked" pics of the red trucks but after seeing it in pictures and video's since I have grown to either like it or be indifferent to it depending on how I feel when I see it. Overall I am excited to pick one of these up and I think my major problem is going to be not going nuts and trying to get a TRD PRO over an SR5.

It's fake look alike handle designed like the handle on a suv lift gate. If it was real the led light and camera built in the handle would shine in your face every time you lifted it to open the tailgate lol

That grille is hideous. It has a Ford like lip on the tailgate for pushing.

It's not necessarily about "serious" off-roading. Some people buy a front bumper because they need to a fit a winch, maybe they need an ARB bumper because they live in an area with a lot of deer or elk and need a bumper for animal strike protection. The problem with Toyota's design language for pretty much all their vehicles is that there are so many angles, so many plastic parts that it makes it hard for aftermarket companies to build parts for it. You end up having to cut and trim a lot of plastic bits to make it fit. Full size and HD trucks are increasingly popular for American overlanding so front bumper fitment pretty important.

If they both don’t have the exact same model and size of tire and also on the exact same level road surface then it isn’t a fair competition. Those trucks have different tires and also take a look at the uneven surface they are on. Not a very good comparison. Pretty funny they think the 5.7 beats it from that test. But then again after listening to them talk I guess it’s not that surprising. Worthless video.

Question regarding the Running boards that you saw. The 1794 - boards did not look like power boards (which is a good thing). Do they say TRD on them? Since they are on the truck, I am hoping you can order them. On the limited it looked they were TRD boards as well not power. Any idea if they can be ordered and or are available ? Or if they come standard?

When the 2nd gen was released in ‘07, I thought it was the ugliest 1/2 ton truck ever made. Now I think they are one of the best looking trucks around, particularly the 2.5 gen. I wonder how I’ll feel about the ‘22 in 15 years lol. Because at the moment… yikes.
