I am beyond excited! I've wanted a Tundra for a very long time. I've owned 2 4-Runners ('98 and '17) and loved them. But...I've always owned Ford F150s as my truck ('00, '04, and '14). I can't say anything bad about the Fords but I always wanted a Tundra. I almost bought one instead of the '14 but I had Ford X-pricing at the time and just couldn't resist the deal they were giving me. I've been a member of this forum for years just reading and admiring all the amazing Tundras out there.

A couple of months ago I notices some rust on the door pillar of my Ford. About the same time all of the information on the '22s started coming out. I made somewhat of an impulsive decision that I HAD to find a '21 TRD Pro! I became obsessed trying to find one. I told my amazing wife about my new obsession secretly hoping she would talk me off the ledge. Well...she only encouraged me!

Long story short, after calling dozens of dealers up in the Northeast, New England, and even Mid-Atlantic states, I pretty much gave up. I had one deal going only to be disappointed to find out it was double cab when I received the spec sheet. I figured I would try to pick up a used one when they came available. Out of the blue, a dealer 300 miles away cold called me from some list he had. I paid a deposit and a couple of weeks later when it came in I picked it up!

I have always been somewhat regretful for getting rid of "old Faithful" on my drive home with a new truck. Not this one! The 300 mile drive home was amazing. Each mile that passed I fell more and more in love with the truck. I don't drive far to work so for the past week I've looked for every excuse possible to "run out" and grab something for my family. LOL

I've already planned a few upgrades. Nothing major, just little things to make it my own. I'm so excited to finally own my dream truck. Sorry for the long post but I'm just super excited!

Congrats! Now let's see those pics. P.S. I also got my dream truck last month. A 21 pro crewmax in MGM. It feels like the perfect truck for our family.baby.jpg

It took me a while to figure out how to upload a picture! LOL. Magnetic Grey was my other choice. But, my last Ford was the same so I'm super happy with Black.

That is awesome! Enjoy your new truck. A dealer 15 miles from me has 4 21 PROS that don’t have the price listed. One of them is a Lunar Rock. I inquired a few months back on another one they had and were asking 73,000.
    Absolute insanity.

That sure is a nice look rig. I hope you have a good detailer on speed dial to keep it looking that way ;)

Well, my first job was working for a used car lot detailing cars. By far....my most favorite job in the past 40+ years! My 04 Ford was black so I understand the challenges. Black is the worst. I have a friend that does Ceramic coating so I'm going that route this time. Hoping it will help a little.

    First mods will be....
    • Console phone charger
    • console tray (both are supposed to be here today)
    • Tires
    • Corrosion protection undercoating (rust will kill it up here)
    • Ceramic coating
Tires, undercoating, and ceramic coating all scheduled for next week.

I have a friend who owns a shop locally and does this and types of work. He has done quite a few trucks and swears by it.

I know what you mean. I absolutely love my Tundra, but I'll always have a soft spot for my vastly underpowered 2004 F150 with the 4.6L V8, as I gave it to my Dad in 2013 when we bought our new truck. He passed in 2019 (Agent Orange exposure from Vietnam) and I still like riding in it and imagining he's there drinking coffee as I drive. :)

But with that said....I couldn't trade in my '13 F150 fast enough to get my 2020 Tundra. I love it.

I also appreciate that your wife encouraged you. My wife tends to be somewhat of a tightwad with money, but last year she simply asked me "Do you think it's a good investment?"

My answer was "I'm not sure how good of an investment it is....but is it a better truck than the one we have? Without a doubt." Turns out that 2 years later I can EASILY trade or sell it for more than I paid for it. :)

What part of the country are you in that requires undercoating, etc. to prevent rust?

I live in far northern NY, just under Quebec. There is usually something salty on the roads from early November through April.

Welcome. I know what you mean. I love my ‘19. Drive it everywhere. Broke my heart when a lady rear ended me. I got it fixed and you would never know it happened. My favorite mods were taking all the silver/chrome out of the dash.

I took delivery of a '21 1794 in August. First thing I did was have it ceramic coated and rust proofed. My wife has a '20 4Runner Nightshade. We had that ceramic coated and rust proofed right away too. After seeing how her 4Runner stays so clean I'm a firm believer in ceramic coating. Plus the time it saves me from waxing both vehicles several times a year. Well worth the money IMHO.

Good luck with your new ride, it's a great looking truck!

I've read some negative reviews and comments about the undercoating but I'm going to give it a shot. I moved here 6 1/2 years ago after living my whole life in southern PA. I've kept cars and trucks 10+ years and never had a bad rust problem. After 6 years here my '14 F-150 started rusting in the body in a couple of spots and the under carriage was looking rough. For the cost I think it's worth a shot!

Id recommend giving it a fluid film treatment yourself instead. You just need to remember to reapply it every fall

I had a very productive week for my first mods. Saturday I installed the console phone charger which works great. Sunday I had ceramic coating and undercoating applied and had Toyo AT 3s (285/75/R18s) installed. Loving this truck more and more every day!

Hey! Congrats on the truck. I was wondering what console phone charger you installed. Also, what will the ceramic coating do? Protect the paint from scratching/chipping? Thanks! I got a 2019 tundra trd pro in all black too.

I got the charger from Sparks Toyota. It works well. Not super fast but it does what it's supposed to do.

The ceramic coating will provide protection for the paint. Here in Northern NY my truck has been covered in salt and crud pretty much since I bought it so I haven't really had much of a chance to give it a good wash and really see the results. I will say that when it's wet the water beads up on it better than a fresh wax.

Congrats. My 2017 TRD PRO was my dream truck too. So much so that it was my first and will be my last truck. Looked for years and couldn't find the balance of looks, capability, reliability and entry price. Almost 5 years and 65K miles, and I love it as much as ever. I'm a car/truck junkie, and am always driving stuff. Other than maybe the Ram TRX (only because it is ridiculous fast and has a killer interior), this is still my favorite.
