    Hi All,

I have a silver 2004 Toyota Tundra SR5 Tx Edition 4dr RWD and just reached 100k miles.
I've been the only owner of the vehicle since 2004. Dual exhaust only mod to date.
I love it. I don't want to sell it, but my wife tho... doesn't want to be seen in it.

I'm looking to upgrade to a later model and 4x4. Used because I'm not rich.

I just wanted any and everyone's thoughts on it. What's it look like out there in the market? Where can I get first look on anything- I've used CarGuru app and I cannot find anything under 40k used with my pref specs!
How much do yall think I could sell for?

The tint is beginning to age. The clearcoat on the cabin roof as well. All these things are happening at once. Hence why they wife is wanting me to upgrade.

as far as selling, use kbb true value and edmunds to enter your details and get ballpark pricing for sale. It is probably worth more than you are thinking.

For a new to you replacement, you are going to have to do nationwide searches in many cases to find what you want at a price you are willing to pay. Prices are at top dollar for used vehicles. Continue to check cargurus, check carmax, carvanna and any others. I dont think vehicles prices are going to get any better anytime soon so you are going to have to look around and be ready to jump when you find the one.

I agree with @frichco228. Prices are at top dollar, due to the chip shortage creating a new vehicle inventory shortage (which is good for you selling yours).

That being said, I found my 2010 Tundra CM Limited TRD with only 68k miles back in June for $34k. I found it on CarGuru and it just happened to be local, so I was at the dealership that afternoon and drove it home. Luckily I called the dealership as soon as I found it, because by the time I got there, there were 6 other people on the lot ready to buy it. So, you definitely have to be ready to pull the trigger as soon as you find something.

Official welcome.. There's plenty of Tundras on the market, owners selling those 2d Gen, 2.5 gens for a upgrade. Be patience and vigilant in your findings. Good luck and again, welcome!!

    Welcome.

Wife doesn't want to go with you in the truck. Not seeing the problem here. I see opportunity.

Purchasing a truck right now is going to be expensive. Some of the highest used prices I have ever seen. You would be better off waiting until 2023 or early 2024. That's when I may purchase my next trucks after retirement.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I would wait, if at all possible. The used market is crazy right now.

I just bought a 2014 and paid much more than I planned on but I needed a truck. wasn't gonna buy a rusty Silverado or Ford with turbos blowin oil.
I've only had it for about 3 days and love it. Glad I paid more to get what I wanted.

Welcome. Pretty much everyone else has said it already… with shortages in components making supply of new trucks tight, the used prices right now are through the roof - often higher than brand new of the same trim and configuration. Example - I saw a dealer asking $67k for a 2020 Limited TRD Off Road Double Cab that only had a soft tonneau cover and a set of Rock Sliders added to it. MSRP on that truck was barely $50k. Not saying they’ll get it, but they are certainly asking it.

If you can ride it out a few more years and start looking after the chip supplies catch up and the market is flooded with all of the new trucks that are being built (just can’t be finished and shipped until the ECU is installed), you should see prices normalize. Consider a fresh paint job and a new tint and get some more years out of that 2004 for a hell of a bargain compared to the market right now. 100k miles is just getting broken in for those rigs.

I’m not quite sure how to answer your question but what I can tell you is that it’s the worst time in 30 years to buy a vehicle. All prices are inflated. If you can hold out for a few years I would recommend that.
