I would like to get something to secure my bed.

I think the best option is a trifold since they allow you to open it up based on your needs.

buddy of mine has the undercover flex cover on his gmc and loves it..

    few question for tundra guys

how do these mount do they all use the bed rail systems?

lastly i see the option for underside to be carpet etc whats the point of this?

I dont mind spending on this item i just want a really good quality set up

There are a lot of options, all kind of depends what your plans, goals, and adventures will be with your truck.

I’ve got a Diamondback HD cover, all made in the USA, good quality, awesome customer service, and they have nice accessories as well.

Secures using c-clamps to the bed rail system, and I would say it’s one of the more secure options, that is if you lock your tailgate.

    I’m biased obviously, but that’s my vote;

I have a fold up BackFlip MX4. It has its own rail that is up above the bed rail system, actually right around the inside of the bed right at the inside, top edge. Mine is a couple of years old and see some drips every now and then, but not too bad.

those look like good quality but i don't like the the pivot in the middle of the bed. I would want one that opens up to give me full bed use.

I was set to buy the undercover but then I have no bed rails so annoying they did it that way.

I've had an undercover flex for many years.
    Didn't have the bed rails.
Never did like the clamps, the right ones would come loose almost everytime I shut it.
They never could grab the edge of the bed frame securely.

Finally getting tired of that, I bought the bed rails.
Undercover sent the bed rail clamps for free.

It is much more secure now.
I can slam the thing shut with no issues.

Flex and the Bedrug is like having a 6.5' trunk.

    The old clamps.
You can see how they monut at a weird angle and not straight in place.

    The bed rail clamps.
Nice to have more tie downs too, I added them.

wow so I understand you correctly at first you didn't have the oem rails and mounted the undercover with just clamps but that didnt shut correctly

    then you bought oem rails.

the undercover now mounts to the oem toyota rails but the oem cast ties downs get in the way due to their shape?

So to fix this undercover makes a ties down that fits oem rail just low profile?

No, you can't use those big bulky OEM bed rail tie-downs with a low profile bed cover..
I sold mine that came with the rails.

Undercover didn't make those tie downs.
I bought those tie-downs, had to bend them a little.

There is a company that makes some nice bed rail tie downs that would work with a cover.
They are expensive, $130 a pair, but they are nice.

I have the diamondback HD as well, my logic was since the bed cover can have 1600lbs placed on it, anything I'd need to haul in the bed that is large can go directly on top the cover. People put 4 wheelers on it. As far as security, I don't believe there is a more secure option, basically turns your entire bed into a lock box.

Not the cheapest option, but certainly worth the money.

I have owned Diamond back covers which I recommend they are a great cover if you set them up on install properly, if you need the entire bed they don’t remove super easy.

back flip : I like because they open up the
Entire bed quick and easy but block the rear window view.
retractable bed cover is what I am running now and I really like it to open up the bed quick and easy but yet secure the bed contents. Amazon has a good low cost option 800 $ I am happy with it.
    Brand Syneticusa

    good luck on your decision

I have the Lomax hard trifold cover, I really like it. However.. if I was to do it again I would get a retractable cover like the RetraxPRO.

I have the BAKFLIP MX4 bedcover on my 2106 Crewmax. It works wonderfully for my purposes. I also installed an autolock so the tailgat locks whenever I lock the truck, and unlocks when I unlock the truck. As for water leaking into the bed, it is extremely rare for me to find water in the bed of my truck, even after a very heavy rain.
And ah, the bedrails. My truck came with the bedrails and the cleats for it. BAKFLIP provided me with brackets so I could still utilize my bedrails, even with the low-profile bedcover. A few friends of mine had some reservation as to the strength integrity of the rails when using the drop down brackets, but they are as solid as they were in their original mounted position. 20180209_173236.jpg

I went the opposite route and got a simple rollup Gator to use only when needed to keep something out of the elements. Mounted to bed rails and used factory cleats too. Added D rings to the clamp bolts as well simultaneously. Perfect for keeping the truck bed open unless needed. For security, I can move cargo to the backseat area and leave the cover open so some jackass don't cut it while I am inside at some public place.

I have the bakflip mx4 and the bakbox. This is my second MX4 as the first leaked right in the middle. They replaced free of charge. I’m happy with it….I guess…. It serves the purpose of why I got it. The second one they sent had some quality issues that I fixed rather than fooling with their warranty process. As for the bakbox. I like it too. But had I thought it through better I would have spent equal money on the ESP underseat storage system.

Another plug for Diamondback. I have the SE, and pretty regularly haul heavy items on top of it. It turns the bed into a vault. I’d argue that you won’t find a better company making a better product. SE can have 400# strapped to it, and you can walk around it. It’s water tight, and they offer great accessories to help you get rid of money faster.

I'm waiting on my cross bin to be delivered, came with free diamondback ratchet straps because of black Friday, perfect addition to my HD. I honestly don't see a down side to this cover besides initial investment.

I've had the Undercover Amorflex and just removed it since I bought a Leer cap. It was great with no issues, but just needed a cap more for my bed. Doubt you are close to South Carolina, but if so I'd be happy to make a deal with you. I liked it a little better than some others as it folds closer to the cab for more open bed space and the tougher Line-X coating on the exterior is always a plus:

I cannot help you because I’m not sure if I will add one. I had one on my Tacoma years ago and did not use it for it’s purpose. Especially now with my tundra crewmax I can fit a lot of stuff in the back seats and I kind of like having the open bed.

Correct, you just fold the rear panel forward, then fold the front panel on top of the rear one and latch it, unlatch the safety straps
and just remove the whole cover. No tools needed, takes about two minutes.

This cover opens up, except for maybe 4 - 5 inches from the very front of the bed, so still lots of room. But there are many different styles.

I'm a big fan of the GatorTrax/Retrax system. I've had mine for 5 or 6 years and its shown no signs of fading, no leaks and no problems. The RetraxPro MX runs about 2,000 bucks but the matte finish and low profile look is great. I wouldn't do it again but I've worked off an extension ladder on it, extremely solid. If you need to haul an unexpected load, slide it back and load up. Easy. I've never wished I'd bought a different one and wouldn't own another truck without it.

Truck looks great too, I like the downplayed classy but tough look that’s going on there. And of course the 040/easiest colour factor;)
