Hello all, another newbie, from The frozen tundra (pun intended) Minnesota. I am in the market for a new tom truck. Been a Ford fan all my life, but not so much the later years. Sold my Superduty being I don't need that big and heavy of a truck anymore so am looking for a 1/2 ton.
Was looking at Silverado's cause I liked the LS motor's rep but soon found out, everything that ran good was rusted out, and everything that was not rusted had problems. So Im steering toward a Tundra. They seem to hold their value and have little problems or rust compared to Chev and Ford.
Looking at a 2nd Gen being 3rd seems to be out of my price max of $20k. Ive found a couple with 100k and 120K miles. Im looking at both today, both are 2008s and both listed at $20k.
seems a bit high priced but I dont want to buy a truck with issues. I test drove a couple 2010 and 2012s yesterday at a dealer and they both had issues.
Is $20 a fair price foe a 100k mile 2008 Tundra Sr5 and Trd with no issues?
    Thanks for any replies.

    Cheers!

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! The prices have been crazy high for over a year. I'm not sure how much longer it will go on, but they will fall at some point. It just depends on whether you're in a position to wait it out. Or you might get lucky and find one that the owner does not realize the value of. Good luck!

    Welcome. MN here too.

The Toyota tax is real. I paid $20k for my 08 CM three years ago with 108k.

Check the bed for rot around the 4 mounting bolts. It's a known problem that rusts up from the bottom. And make sure the 4 hi and 4 low engages.

Also, register on toyota owners club, plug in the VIN and you can see all the dealer service records.

Thank you all, Yes prices are insane. Up here in MN seems you cant buy a good running used truck without rust unless its In the $30k range.
I drove the one with 100K miles and it drove nice but the pics were deceptive. Lifted up the bed liner and rust holes through the bed. front bumper and trim was smacked. I know I cant get a new looking truck for 20K but wish people would be honest with their pics and answers to questions. I did find a 2010 that has a beautiful body, probably a southern truck, needs tires but had a shudder from a dead stop. It only did this once and the 4x4 was slow to engage/disengage, it was enough to scare me away, worst case scenario there, I would need to put a tranny or at least a torque converter in it. looking at another one this weekend.

Well I ended up getting a 2014 Double Cab SR5 5.7L, Magnetic Grey. No rust and runs great. Its a little dinged up, musta been a work truck and the bed is well used (gonna Line-x or coat anyway) but Its a solid truck. ZPMAN I've gone south before about 4 times for trucks and cars, 2 were great, 2 ok. My wife didn't want me to go out of state and I kinda didn't want any surprises. I paid a little more but overall am happy with the truck.
