After dealing with the sub par JBL system that came with the 2020 Platinum, I reached out to James at Tech12Volts, and asked for a package I could install myself.

James and I swapped emails for a day and came to an understanding of what I wanted and what I was willing to do as an installer.

3 days later, two boxes arrived at the house. JL Audio component speakers for the doors, a Rockford Fosgate DSR-1, A T03 interface cable for the vehicle, an Infinity amp, a single Sub Woofer and box, main power feed including a fuse breaker, and four door adapters made for the speakers to be mounted to.

James had included all the pre made cables, RCA cables, self tapping screws, wire crimps, an amp tray for mounting under the seat.

I emailed James for the DIY instructions, and received them via email in a .pdf.
After reading through the instructions a few times, I gave myself a half a day to install the wires, amp, and vehicle harnesses. This took me about 3.5 hours including soldering the wire speaker ends, and painting the speaker adapters for the doors.

I planned the next day for another 3-4 hours to install the speakers. The speakers actually went very quick/ I was done with this in about 2.5 hours.

After install and all adjusting the DSR-1, I felt the system just wasn't what I was expecting. The sounds was all derived from the bottom of the doors and trying to rise. The Sub was a huge difference over the factory one, however the door speakers just didn't have enough umph. They were definitely a cleaner and tighter sound, just muffled somewhat. After a few days of driving around, I realized what I was missing. I didn't have any sound coming out me from the top of the dashboard like I did before.

I emailed James and explained what I was experiencing. James suggested I get the Audiofrogs dash speakers. he explained they wouldn't be any harder to install than what I had already accomplished. I said, send them on. Next day they arrived and I installed them. Took me about 45 minutes including wiring the extra set of wires into the amp. What a world of difference. This was the part I was missing. The system, sounds so much fuller as if its a waterfall of sound I swimming in now. The pair was pricey, and I wouldn't have expected a 2.5 inch pair of speakers to be so much, however after install, I can tell you well worth the price and time.

    Nothing.... yet.
I'm going to be starting my audio upgrade soon, although I'll be doing it in stages. I love reading all these posts about upgrades, especially when it pertains to the platinum from the past few years.

Sounds like you are very happy with your system. That's awesome. I'm hoping to be the same... when I'm done.

Did you keep all the harness wiring between the amps and speakers? It's one of the few things people don't comment on much. Like is the existing wiring good enough to run better components if setup right.

I have aftermarket harnesses between the factory OEM harness and the AMP. The OEM harnesses are molested and can go back to original placement easily. As to your second part, about the OEM wires being good enough for full system upgrade? I don't know.
