    I have the Gaia route. Our original plan was to go to Kanab point on Saturday and run the lava tubes on Monday morning, but we we wanted more time at the lava tubes so we stayed there Sunday night and head out Monday morning. The alternate route we took to the lava tubes instead of kanab point is the pink route on the map.

    I was able to tear ass the entire 250+mile trip without any problems or concern of breaking anything. Got airborne a few times and the ride was smooth. I never had to drive in anyone's dust if I didn't want to, and stopped along the way to wait 15-30mins for the group to catch up. On the way out on the Country Road from the lava tubes, the GX went up ahead of me and ran 65-75mph, but that road is smooth and groomed. He said he bottomed out a few times. Once I got past him and out of the dust trail, I was able to run it at 95mph no problem.
    Then there's the durability aspect. I'm not so certain I'd have the same confidence of not breaking anything with a mid-travel setup unless it was a mid-travel setup built like a proper LT setup, with reinforced everything. If your style of off-roading is some moderate speed, and a few fast bursts through the trip, then mid-travel should be plenty. If your style is to destroy the trails with balls of fury for most of the a 250mile outing, then go with a full proper LT setup, engine cage, bed cage, and if you can swing it, cab cage, and gussets for days.
    I wouldn't say any of the trucks in my group were mid-travel. They were mostly stock. Mid travel to me is say, like an icon stage 5 kit or something similar in nature, beefed upper and lower control arms, extended length coils and secondaries, SUA at the rear, with extended length bypasses.
    You'll know you're at the limit of your setup when you can outperform it and it's holding you back, AND/OR you're breaking a lot of shit.

    @AlTundy Are you still running a stock steering set up with longer toe arms or something completely different because I hear the stock steering set up is kinda weak when you start thrashing these trucks like that.

    Stock steering rack, longer arms. The only thing I've done to try and help it out is use full synthetic fluid, and installed a power steering cooler. I've also got urethane bushings installed. I blew a rack about 6 months ago, and replaced it with another OEM. Aired down 35s really puts strain on it. I've heard running 37s pretty much guarantees going through racks.

    It was like that in two separate sections of the ring gear. The pinion surprisingly looks ok, but might as well replace both. These have been in the truck for years. The axle splines and all other parts look fine.

    Ha! Exactly. I was having way too much fun and so the carnage police had to pay me a visit.
    I thought about setting them myself, but its not worth the risk to me if I f' it up. My go-to guy for anything gears is "Zuk" at http://gearinstalls.com He's the all-knowing sorcerer of the dark arts of preload and backlash.
    I'll pretty much do any work on my trucks until it comes to gears.
    I'm going with Nitro and they'll be REM treated. :thumbsup:

    I remember hearing about zuk way back when I did my first gear set maybe 10 years ago. It held up as long as I used it, which wasn't very long. Still, the info he put out was extremely useful and my setup seemed solid enough to run and be quiet.

    He has a "days until retirement" counter on his website.

    Gears have been flawless and quiet. The Eaton elocker just works. I also replaced both rear axles. One of the axle bearings was bad and making a racket, and the spline ends were twisted from years of abuse. So I bit the bullet. Ended up going with OEM axles since they are chromoly. I had some "issues" to say the least with the nitro chromo axles I purchased before returning them and going OEM. The Nitro axles just plain do not fit. I really don't understand how they get away with even listing them on their website that they fit our trucks. They don't.
    I'll have to sit down sometime and post some updates. I've done a few things to the truck over the past few months. Mostly lighting stuffs.

    Switching to PRP Enduro Elite seats because my off road trips have become more and more extended vs. just going out for short desert runs whoop busting, I realized I needed something more comfortable. I've heard lots of good things about the Enduro Elites.
    I need something I can sit with for 9+ hours at a time. The fiberglass shell Corbeaus are excellent for support and safety, but this truck has taken a bigger turn towards extended camping trips rather than jumping dunes.

    Only problem is, I waited 4 weeks for these to be custom made, and they sent me the wrong color. :annoyed:

    I ordered black/gray with red outline. They sent me red with black outline. Way too much red for my truck. Maybe if they were going into a UTV or something, I can deal with it.

    Seems like lately, every time I order something for this truck it's wrong on the initial try. My garage is filling up with wrong orders waiting to be sent back. :/

    I just kinda sat in them for a few seconds while they were on my living room floor. Not the ideal testing ground. They are significantly more cushy than my fixed back fiberglass shell seats. These ones also recline. My only concern would be thigh support. I won’t be able to provide a solid opinion either way until I have some seat time on them though.
    I will update on it in this thread though following my next adventure.:thumbsup:
