Honestly this is my favorite thread on the site. Wish it was more popular though. Heres some from this morning, I camped last night in the national forest a few mins from where I live. The sunrise pics are on state land nearby.DSC_7435.jpgDSC_7491.jpgDSC_7516.jpgDSC_7525.jpg

Winnipeg gets a bad rap, but it's not as bad what people make it out to be. You just have to know where to go and what areas to avoid.

It’s actually quite pretty out there, especially in the spring time. Flat Iron is a grueling hike but really gorgeous. I used to think the desert was all crusty, dead, and brown (and it can definitely look that way from far away), but when you get up close you notice it has a very unique beauty to it.

Yes. My wife spent two years down there before we married, and we have several friends that live down in PHX valley. As a kid from the inland NW, I always pictured the desert as something like Tatooine in Star Wars but it is far from it. Every couple of years we go down for Spring Break (MIL has two timeshares in Scottsdale, so cheap lodging) and we always get out and do some day hikes, but usually up NE of Scottsdale (Tom’s Thumb and others in that area). There is definitely a different beauty to the desert. We did go out to the Superstitions once a few years ago, but the kids were at the age that they weren’t having anything with doing more than about a 1-mile loop (the one that goes up close to the base and has several benches along the way).

Little fog outside the back door this morning. I do love fog and miss the cold weather from Coeur d Alene.
