I had my LT headers installed by RT tuning in Montgomeryville and was happy with them. I know they have installed Magnuson on a tundra and their lot had 3 Toyotas in it the other day. May want to check them out.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have used Vince at RT Tuning on my 350Z for dyno tuning with Uprev. I was happy with their results and will contact them if I can’t trust anyone closer to where I live.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s their install labor rate or how much was the header installation?

A shop that I used before to get my Supra parts is building the engine, XAT racing. I work for a dealership and we will install it, I will have it Tuned in Baltimore.

Looking into fuel systems and rear differential now, transmission work already done. All in will be about 42k parts, labor and tune. Not exactly cost effective but I love the V8 and don't plan on selling the truck at any point. Lol, would never come close to getting my money back.

Could you just buy a TRX, add a smaller pulley and tune it on E85? Unless you are doing an AWD conversion on your Tundra, 800 hp to the wheels will be quite problematic to utilize 100%. But it’s your money and potentially a very interesting project.

Ordered Stage 1 and 2 from DAP week before last. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning and dad won't finish his damn coffee so I can go rip into some presents!

Are you guys running a Pedalcommander in addition to the Harrop? If yes - should I get this before DAP does the install and stage2 tune, or does the tune care if I added this afterwards?

What tuners is everyone using with the Harrops?

I doubt it will be a factor but I would remove/disable it when you deliver the vehicle for tuning. It just adds another thing to troubleshoot if there are any issues.

Not a fan of Dodge, loved my Viper and Hellcat, as far as the way they ran, but very poor quality of a car, not a fan of the truck. I'm not to worried about putting the power to the ground, we have that worked out. With my current setup I'm running with the TRX on the street.

The pedal commander made a massive difference in my truck, love it with my shift kit.

Thank you sir. I don't have the PC yet. I'll talk to DAP as well - would suck if I added after the fact and the tune needs updating.

Adding it after won't be an issue I would remove it while you are doing the tune.

Edit: Pedal Commander wont change your tune; its a throttle controller so its just changing your throttle response.

Gracias - I'm very much a noob when it comes to this stuff. I assumed the tune also modified the throttle response and whatnot.

Is the tune only modifying the flow of gas/air to the engine in-order to achieve the sweetspot for power gains with 'acceptable' MPG efficiency?

I always laugh when people say "don't get a tundra because the MPG is horrible". I tell them if they care about MPG don't buy anything bigger than a volt.

I'm new to this game too. I'm not familiar with DAPs tune but the website doesn't say anything about throttle but does talk to shift points and a few other things:

    I agree with salty

    leave it off

get it tuned. Minimize your tuning variables

    you won’t need it

the tow haul button does what you will need the pc to do

Something that was bugging me when I really stepped on the throttle was this light rattling. At first I thought it was the throttle body gasket that was rattling, but realized that it had been already removed when the Harrop was installed. Then thinking that maybe the Premium gas that I am using isn't as good as Chevron or any other name brand gas. I think I am getting pinging in the engine. So I put a bottle of octane booster in the truck and will see how the sound goes away or not. Just curious if anyone else has heard this faint rattling sound.

Not much of value to add, but the last I heard of a rattle was this thread.

The transmission should hold the power, looking at the Auburn rear differential.

I still have a very slight rattle that only seems to happen when in a high gear and feathering the throttle to accelerate, but not enough for a downshift. (High gear, low rpm and slight load)

Here's a video. After getting up to speed and maintaining I'll give it medium throttle and you can hear it in the video although there is still some background noise. Right before the end (maybe 0:25 seems to be the most noticeable).

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P96lSqJD6kc

Mine has been doing that since the install almost 2 years now. Some day I hope to get it in for a custom tune and hopefully eliminate that. Is that what yours sounds like?

If memory serves me....In my 1st de-brief with D3 Performance:

untuned stage 1 does run off the knock sensors & pulls timing for protection. it happened >2.5k rpms on my unit. it was protecting it from me. However - I do not remember hearing the knock in the 4 or so months I ran it untuned.

    Tuned stage 1 remedies that.

Tuned stage 2 no problem either. it just makes more angry noises.
    upload_2021-11-30_5-23-34.jpg

tried some 0-60's...best was 5.7sec..slightly slick streets...full nannies. It would not hook up & cut power when it started to spin. 2nd & 3rd gear PULL.

doing some dry runs this week....wanna hit 5.2-ish. 4hi should be awesome.

internet calculators have me @ 5.33...the bar has been set!

NobodyinTexas you have to buy Prospeed’s intake! We’re dialing it in now the best we can. I don’t have global fuel adjustments through VFtuner yet so I can’t install the 80mm yet! Hopefully 1.5.0 will be out soon with more adjustments for my calibration Id. All I can say is wow! I almost think I don’t need the smaller pulley it’s badass! Intake makes a world of difference! Well worth the money! My 12.50’s seem like skinny tires! Lol!

I need a catch can and some traction bars! Is Caltracs the best? This thing is a beast with the 85 mm! I can only imagine what the 80mm is going to be like!
