Condensation

I keep an inexpensive Rubbermaid tub in the bed of my truck with some emergency supplies. Think saw, tow straps, flares, gloves, poncho etc. The trouble is that in the.winter, condensation forms and makes a mess out of things in the tub. If I don't keep on top of it, rhen.mold and rust form. I have a tonneau cover.

Aside from a giant bag of desiccant that I change out regularly, how can.i stop this from happening?

Try sumptin like dis. I just picked up one for my tool chest (which is already chock full), but it's a bit too big, even though it's only 6.5x6.5x6"

I've also tried this one (it's what's currently in my toolbox), but the beads stop changing colors after a while and just stay dark color, so it's kinda hard to tell if it's still working. No condensation with them though...so they must work pretty well.

Vent the box? A couple of pvc 90 L's pointing downward going through the sides of the box, some sealant on the inside to hold them.

 

Agree with the post above, you need to put a vent in the box

 

I've tried dehumidifiers in the past that you have to drain. They work well enough until they tip over driving and spill that stuff.

If venting the box is enough, I'll do that. I like easy.

 

I would go the other way: get an air-tight container and put the desiccant in. In the winter, you are probably experiencing a change in conditions where the objects in the box are cooled over night and then as the day warms up, exposed to air at a higher dewpoint than the surface temperatures in the box.
