When younger I ran splits on my trucks and using my high lift could break the wheel down, patch the tube and be aired up and running in about 20 minutes. That ain't ever happening in my life again!

Id be lucky to get it done in an hour.

My buddy and I changed a flat in 8 minutes one time when we were late for a tee time! It was a Honda civic and we probably could've lifted one end without a jack

image.jpg image.jpg We were parking lot camping this past weekend in Golden BC. Hard to tell but we had a garage heater under the tarp (yes lots of ventilation), the tent was ontop of the sled trailer with enough room for our chairs infront of the tent. We had to keep turning the heater off it was so warm. We were quite proud of ourselves sipping rye n coke toasty warm at the end of a great day!
That is my buddies taco, I have an 06 limited tundra btw :)

That is some style if i may say so. I've done the parking lot camping but that seems quite glamorous compared to my set up

Dirt bag? More like resourceful IMO. Pretty ingenious.

I agree. Dirtbag is more the term but not everyone out there understands what true "dirtbagism" is. I lived a life of a climber and paddler for about 6 years all over the country. I truly understand being a dirt bag!! It's the best living there is

I realized maybe there isn't very many people reading this that know what split rims are and how they work. They weren't very attractive but made it easy to patch a tube and keep going on the trail. Now, nobody even has tubes, I guess

They are multi piece wheels: the rim on one side is removable by disengagement of a lock ring. I've worked on many different types. Many people consider them dangerous but that is only true if they aren't assembled correctly. Out in the sticks, I would use the high lift to break the bead loose allowing the lock ring to be pried out. Once the rim is off you can slide the tire off and get the tube out.

    That is our Yeti 65.
It's been out on 2 trips, so far both times great ice retention over 3 days. Mind you weather has also been favorable, but its given me some confidence. I do need another sooner than later just due to the amount of crap we keep seeming to need/want to bring along... we take advantage of car camping, and with 2 kids and 2 dogs we always over pack.

what up fellas! Overlanding is what I do! I've been building out my truck for 4 years. I finally called it complete a few months ago. I have full armor; full set of 1/4" aluminum skids, fully welded tube bumpers, boxed frame, 12k comeup winch, and sliders. I run dual full size spare tires, 4 tred pros, 60" hilift, and all sorts of misc tools and recovery gear. I am fully self contained; James Baroud RTT, awning with fully enclosed room, 82q ARB fridge, on demand water system with hot water heater, and full kitchen including stove and oven. I can carry any combination of 35 gallons extra fuel and water. A typical 3 night trip will be 10 ga water 5 ga spare fuel. A week in Death Valley would be 15 ga water 30 ga spare fuel. I have a dual battery system, fully fused, capable of winching off the house batteries if engine and main battery are dead. House batteries are 140 Ah. 1000w pure sine wave inverter, LEDs all around, 10" navigation tablet, 50w unlocked ham radio, personal locator beacon, etc etc.

Anyways, I love camping in extremely remote areas, drinking beer around the campfire, wheeling technical trails, smashing high speed dirt, and talking trucks all day long!

What gauge wiring did you run form your battery isolator to the batteries in the back of the bed.

I have been enjoying reading about your rig and seeing the pictures for a couple years, over at the other forum and now here.
It's impressive and well thought out. I have learned a thing or two from you.
So many times the mods people do are for show. I think the term is "poser". I appreciate that you do the stuff for real.
