FYI when I bought my car I went to the parts dept. right away and asked for a locking gas cap (my Tacoma had a door lock) they said Toyota doesn't make one and they don't recommend it since they end up leaking fuel vapor! some of the places I go fishing/outdoors is shady and people mess with the cars not that the lock can stop them but its one more small layer of protection/mainly feel good :)

There are very few locking gas caps that are more than marginally harder to remove than standard caps. Years ago, a friend was complaining about a gas theft and bragging about his new locking cap. I reached over, popped it off, mentioned that it looked like a good one, and put it back on. He wasn't amused. A locking door will at least let you know someone tampered with it, they'll almost never lock it back, but a locking cap will barely slow them down.

I purchased a lockable cap from O'Reilly Autoparts and will say it is not that high end of a product however it was one that fit. After 50 miles
of driving I got the check engine light. I removed it and re snugged up my stock cap on the lanyard and after another 100 miles or so
the light extinguished. I know only use it when parked for long periods or not in garage etc. I will be looking for a better quality cap that
has a good seal but thought I would throw this out there if someone else sees the "orange" of that check engine after installing a cheap
    lockable cap.
