This is a DIY project I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. I power washed the concrete entry way and my stairs leading up to our home. I applied a Muriatic Acid solution to the concrete scrub it with a coarse brush and washed it all off. Then I let it dry out for a few days before starting to apply the Granite Grip coating. I did three coats and I used a total of 5 1/2 gallons of the Granite Grip to do my stairs and entry way. The coating has a textured finish that makes it a lot safer when it’s wet.

I love the way it turned out!

Before: Entry-way when it was bare concrete.

This is the Granite Grip by Behr sold at Home Depot. You have to use a 1/4” adhesive roller. You can use a brush to cut in around the edges or tight areas.

How is this with dogs? Is it too rough for their paws?

My dogs are great with it. It’s not very coarse or super rough. It’s has a very light texture to it.

Do they make a clear version of this? My grandparents house has a tiled front entry way that gets really slick when wet. My first thought is some sort of grip tape, but it would be a eyesore.

    Or any other ideas?

You can look up all the colors they offer online. They do not offer a clear coating that I know of. I know there are different clear products that use sand for a non slip finish. I don’t know if they will bond to the tile though.

I was told that papaya trees grow super fast. When I planted this one I was counting on that. Turns out they do, but not nearly as fast as cannas or bananas. This one struggled for sunlight this year and developed a hard curve. It leaned to the sun and was rooted pretty shallow as a result of all the torque.
    20211120_132155.jpg

Ever been drunk enough to look like that?
    20211120_132403.jpg

So I dug a hole in a better spot with a lot more sunshine (normally) and replanted it. Dropped an 8 ft steak 2 ft in the ground and tied it for support. Poured a lot of compost in the hole too.

My three car garage has a separate attic space over one of the car stalls. Previously the only way into the attic was a 2x2’ scuttle hole. The attic space had HVAC lines, electrical wires and a water line running all over the open space. I installed a 10’ aluminum pull down stair case, rerouted all the electrical, HVAC, and water lines. I installed 2x6x10’ decking across the attic space. Now I have an additional 4’x10’ storage area. I’m going to use this space to store all the seasonal decorations.

Attic after I moved the wiring, HVAC and plumbing.

about how much square footage would you say this is approximately. I have a stamped concreted patio that leads toward my pool and it either needs this grip treatment or hand railings haha

We had that problem at our old house - I was afraid somebody was going to get hurt because it would get so slick. We ended up replacing it with slate tile.

They Granite Grip says you will get about 50 square feet of coverage per one gallon container. This is based on using two coats. I got probably 35-40 square feet of coverage per gallon since I went over it three times. This product is very thick. It’s not like a typical paint viscosity.

When we did ours, we trusted our tile guy that it wouldn't be slippery. Big mistake.

Finally changed out the bent frost free hydrant. Also ran water and power over to new greenhouse location. Going geothermal. Still more excavation to do.

Probably bad connections on the outlet or wirenuts. Kill the circuit and see what ya got in there.
Might have to check the other outlets upstream and downstream on that circuit too to find the break.

Check the build link in my signature.
Double check that the top outlet isn't tied to a light switch.
It's common in spec houses to have the outlets "split" and the bottom outlet is fed from the panel while the top one is fed off the light switch.

this is a valid point.. There is a skylight type lighting up above a seam that is out and I was sorta troubleshooting, since I replaced both bulbs and got no joy, so I decided to probe outlets and the top one is out, the otherside is fine.. sooo... May have to dig into both switches..

Yea we kinda laughed and said the same. Not as simple as into filter, into pool, then back out. Lol. And yea, they're moving along fairly quickly right now. Won't happen when I need the plumber tho. They're all backed up around here right now

Continuation from 7847. Stopped by on a Saturday where they were working on doing the stone on the front of the house and finishing up the stairs off the back upper deck. They did some outside items, added concrete slab by the side door off the garage, front stairs and pathway. Added concrete barriers by the side so it’s more level for the AC option on the side behind the RV garage. We went over to the home next door and took a few shots from there. Quite a different perspective of the land from before breaking ground. Some concerns regarding water flow due to rain. We’re not near a river valley as we are about 500 ft In Elevation, but with all the the Recent atmospheric rivers we have been having, the French drain routing is getting a test. They have added an additional trench across the back yard that has to be filled in yet. They finished grouting the bathrooms and the back splash in the kitchen. The range hood is installed also. They finished up the sheet rock fixes and that looks good. Plenty of work left to do. Lots of trim work to be completed, as we had options for wood wrapped windows. We were supposed to have a walk through on December 1, but it looks like the new date is 2 weeks later. That will make it 4 months late… we plan to get the Propane tank buried after we move in, for a cleaner appearance. It hey did the next home over’s driveway, but not ours yet. I think they figured they had to get that one done first before doing ours. Lots of schedules conflicting in this era. Maybe the next photos posted will show a completed house (well maybe with some pickups). Good news is that we know how the water will flow in the heavy WA rains….
