The nice thing about the Toyota one is it's all plug and play with full harness and everything included down to zip ties. Makes it super simple to install. No cutting of wires

My Pioneer 9" is ready for install on Thursday. My installer is doing both. Another day and I was gonna start sweating it...

Who did you order it from? Elmore was like $20 more than most places but they implied they had it in stock, ready for pickup....they did not. Took a couple days to get it in. Price evened out since I didn't have to pay shipping.

Bummer...I hate when they do that. Set unrealistic expectations and the custom has to wait... not good for return business.
I ordered from Toyota of Cool Springs it was $151 with shipping. Not sure if that is a good deal, but they are also a bit slow on getting it shipped.

Mine was $142.80 plus $12.50 tax for a total of $155.30...about the same if I had gone with the best price and paid for shipping. Still got them quicker than if shipped, just not quite as quickly as they led me to believe. Either way, I'll be stoked when it goes in. Tired of forgetting to lock the damn tailgate with my golf clubs or other valuables back there.

This is 100% accurate. Because the tailgate seems to not have ANY sound deadening material, the lock sounds loud if you are standing next to it. If you are near the front of the cab, you can't hear anything....

I have the OEM tailgate lock and would like to lock my tool box with the same circuit. Has anyone used the power taildgate lock wires to power the actuators on the Truck Covers USA Work Cover?

I am new to this forum.
    Thanks,

I think anyone installing the unit and trying to keep it on the quiet side could put a piece of foam at the end of the solenoid throw and a rubber o-ring on the shaft to deaden the shaft return if possible.

Interesting question. What would the interaction between the two be?

I didn't have that feature in my 2018 Tundra and just used my key every time but I told myself, when I get a new Tundra I will make sure to get that. I took home my first ever TRD Pro and installed that with no problems. Didn't really run into any issues installing the OEM Tailgate Lock Kit since it came with instructions with pictures plus tons of videos on YouTube. Only thing hard was going under the truck on your back and not pulling neck muscles you didn't know you had trying to zip tie the cable along the other cables that are already under the truck. It took me less than an hour actually and I don't normally do wiring mods but this was easy.

Had mines installed by dealer. With Tonneau cover can't really hear it locking over the alarm beep. Very happy with how quiet it is

I noticed some of y'all mentioning installing this on trucks older than 2019. I'm assuming this one will not fit the 2012 trucks?

Does this OEM one install on the driver side? I put in a Pop/Lock kit with a harness from Accessorides, it went in on the passenger side and the tailgate unlocks on the second press. I heard the driver side installs unlock the tailgate on the first press of unlock? That was awhile ago though.

OEM also installs on the passenger side; I have my locks set to all unlock on the first click though.

As far as I can remember, the OEM Bed Lock kit installs on the passenger side. At least that's what the directions that came with mine said to install it. I am not aware that this can be installed on the driver side as well.

I’m having an aftermarket alarm installed soon. How will that integrate with the tailgate OEM locking solution?

It should work seamlessly. All the OEM Power tailgate lock does is tap into the passenger side door to power the actuator. There are no sensors for the tailgate, so your alarm wont sense if the tailgate is opened or closed while armed.

Installed this over a month ago and it’s been perfect so far. I followed the instructions from a YouTube video.

A long bed version was sent to me, but it hooked up with no problems. Only thing I added was heat shield tape to some of the wiring by the exhaust shields to be safe. Only problem I ran into was installing back the door sill panel. A must for anyone whom uses the bed frequently. Man I love this truck lol. Best old new truck you can get.

Popnlock is great, have had mine on 4 years. Also added the Toyota led bed lights. Installed both at the same time. Less than $200 and about 2 hours install start to finish.
