Whats everyones opinion on Taco Tunes or OEM stereo upgrade. Don't really want to rewire everything, jjst want better speakers and maybe a bass behind the back seat.
I read the way the power is distributed from the head unit and small under seat amp is nuts. Don't want to cut and splice wires all over the place again as I am done with that after 5 cars. Or wondering if i should just do the under seat amp
Exchange for a bass in the back and just change all
    Other speakers to low RMS?
    Thoughts?

@james@tech12volts is the man. I’ve had one of his JL bundles in my truck for a couple years and it’s great. He is great to work with. Keeping the stock head unit is no problem. Shoot him a pm or do a quick search here.

There are a few great companies that run integration software in their amps that allow you to keep your HU. I agree with reaching out to @james@tech12volts he is highly recommended in these forums and has a ton of Toyotas under his belt. Best source of information.

I was looking into OEM audio also, but thought it was overpriced for what it is. Didn't want to tear my truck apart installing a custom stereo. I really liked where they have the sub though (on a DC). It would allow me to keep my under seat storage too. I watched a bunch of videos about OEM and ultimately came to the conclusion that their amp was tiny and so was the 8 inch sub. Again, the total price was too high for what it is.
I pulled the trigger with James@tech12volt on one of his dual JBL sub packages. I kept my stock head unit too. What I also realized is that the install would have been the same with the OEM package. You still have to remove all of the panels to install the speakers, amp and sub. James provides all adaptors, so it's pretty much all plug and play also. I don't miss the under seat storage as much as I thought. I also don't feel the need to upgrade anything. I'm assuming that once I got used to the OEM set up, I would want more power and bass. Keep in mind that I'm a bit older (50's), but still want to crank it up and the power is there. My stereo is one of the best upgrades I've done on my truck and don't regret it one bit. I'm not affiliated with James either, found him searching this site.
