Best Starting Spot for Audio Improvements?

    I recently joined the Tundra club. Very happy with the vehicle and looking to make it my own!

    One thing I am disappointed in is the audio. My intention is to just upgrade things until the sound quality is up to my standards. Not exactly sure where that will be. After searching the forums on this site for a while, it seems a relatively common place to start is the head unit. Signal is not very good. However, I stumbled across a YouTube video offering a few upgrade ideas and he mentioned a channel converter that would improve the signal from the head unit.

    My question is should I keep the stock head unit and get a converter or just get a better head unit? Also, is a line converter even an option in my case?

    Converters I was looking at
    $50 NVX XLCA2 X-Series 2-Channel Line Out Converter Digital Bass Enhancer with xBOOST and Remote Level Control
    NVX XLCA2 or
    $69 AudioControl LC2i 2 Channel Line Out Converter with AccuBASS and Subwoofer Control
    AudioControl LC2i

    Head units I was considering Planet Audio P9900CPA or Dual Electronics DCPA701

    I'm trying to keep the budget low on this and just upgrading things till I'm satisfied and just am not sure which route will be the most efficient. Thanks for any advice!

    Look into Tech12volts. He will have whatever you need to get it up to par. It made a huge improvement on mine.

    Ive emailed James a few time asking question and haven't heard back to any of them. I know he offers a great solution to our issues with the factory system.

    I did this on a budget, if you are into DIY.
    amp - $180.00 (crutchfield - refurb)
    AC - LC7i - $124.00 (autoSounds Warehouse - Ebay - Brand New)
    J144/J145 Harness $17.00 (autoharness house)
    RCA Cables - $22.00 (crutchfield)
    4 AWG Install kit $60.00 (Sonic Electronix)
    you will need additional wire for connections from the lc7i to the amp and from the J144/J145 harness. Maybe $20.00 tops. (I dont remember what I paid)

    Start with the head unit. Will really wake up the speakers.
    Then start working through amps and speakers.
