    Hello all,

Former ‘04 Sequoia owner, bought new in ‘04 and drove it for 16 years and 217k miles before I sold it over 2 years ago. It was a RWD SR5, drove it in the snow just a couple of times, and used it primarily as my daily driver. It also served well as a secured work truck for residential/commercial painting jobs I took on as side gigs. After buying it, I remember seeing a lot of the new ‘04 Tundra doublecabs and wished I could’ve owned both. I was a member of Tundrasolutions for the first 6 years of ownership.

This evening I placed an order with Longo Toyota in Southern California for a ‘22 Tundra TRD Pro and was told to expect at least a year wait so it might end up being a ‘23 model. I think they did a fantastic job on the new interior, particularly the red, and I’m really starting to like the exterior of the Pro especially in white. I’ve only seen photos and YouTube videos, nothing in person yet.

Currently no Toyotas in the garage, just my wife’s Infiniti SUV and my commuter, R52 Mini Cooper S convertible.

I don’t know yet, said they’ll honor MSRP so I’m guessing somewhere in the $70K range.

That's not too bad considering the current market.

When I sold my Sequoia, my buddy loaned me his 2nd gen Tundra for a month. Access cab, 5.7L, 4x4, 3 inch lift, mud tires, and Borla exhaust. It was a lot of fun to drive around and Lowes runs. Past July 4th, rented a ‘21 Tacoma crew cab 4x4 for a week long road trip from a local Toyota dealership. Attached my Thule cargo box to the top of the bed rails using Yakima cross bars from my Sequoia. Had full access to the bed for the bikes and other cargo, Thule for weatherproof storage of all our luggage and shopping.

I’ve never owned a pickup truck before, have a U-Haul rental place a few blocks away that has an F-150 with the 8’ bed that I rent when needed.

I was considering the Raptor R but I just can’t imagine the wait time and I don’t think I can find a dealer in CA that would order one for me @MSRP. Still kicking myself for not picking up a ‘20 Raptor when some dealers out of state were offering $6k off. Drive it for a couple of years then sell/trade for the new Tundra.

If the raptor would make it a couple years. lol.
Not to mention i think the resale is terrible on them, there was a member on here that his neighbor took a major bath on a new raptor, they cost too much and dont hold value.
Much better off with hanging on and getting a tundra.

Late last year I asked my dealer to switch my ‘22 Tundra Pro deposit to a ‘23 Sequoia Pro. At the time, was told I’m within the 1st 15 on the wait list for a Sequoia Pro. About 3 weeks ago, my Cadillac salesman texted me and said he has an allocation for me, ordered back in Jan 2021. My ‘22 Cadillac Escalade ESV Sport Platinum has a target production date about 2 weeks from now and delivery hopefully some time in May. The Tundra or Sequoia was a backup option but it looks like the Caddy is going to arrive first. I’m still going to leave my deposit for the Sequoia Pro and leave my options open when it comes up.

My little sister has a deposit with the same dealer for a ‘22 4Runner TRD Pro, currently #81 on the wait list and it doesn’t seem like she’ll get hers any time soon. I found a dealer about 2 hrs from me that has an in-transit Pro in the exact spec she wants and it just arrived from Japan, still needs to be transported so about another 2 weeks. They’re asking $3k over MSRP with no other dealer fees and are willing to deliver it to my house where she can pick it up. It’s still less than what a ‘20 model with 30k miles was asking for that she test drove a couple of days ago. She accepted the deal, her first new and also first car purchase. She currently drives an ‘04 Mitsubishi Lancer that was handed down from my mother, my older brother and I bought it new for my mother. Like my old ‘04 Sequoia, the Lancer is pre-sold to my mechanic.
