So I'd like to place an ATOTO S8G2114PM in my "new to me" 2012 non-JBL, no-nav Tundra. I want the ATOTO because it'll allow me to put android apps on it, whereas other more mainstream radios hide that ability.

I am a 20+ year electrical/electronics guy; however, I don't speak "auto-radio," can someone please tell me what would be the best way to go here. I *think* from research that I've done that I need to find a CANBUS adapter. Still, then again, other things I saw said it wasn't necessary for non-JBL systems, even others said to get a harness of some sorts. . . and I think I may be more confused now than when I innocently started on this path.

Can someone who understands this stuff give me a basic understanding of what I need to do?

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! There may be someone on here who can help you, but I haven't seen that one before. Have you tried the manufacturer's site for guidance? Surely they offer installation guidance.

Welcome to the forum! I’d start with the manufacturer. I just installed a Joying android radio that was completely plug and play since the manufacturer included all the appropriate JBL wiring. They have the non JBL variant as well so I’d imagine Atoto would be similar. Most of the threads on this forum are from members with Daisata and Joying head units and we are all pretty pleased with their performance. Sorry, I couldn’t help more. Good luck, post pics when finished.
