Who's running the Falken wild peaks?

I've got 60k miles on the original michelins on my TRD pro.

Getting ready to order some new tires and see that the 2022 TRD pro is running a Falken wild peaks.

    I was considering between:

    Nitto ridge grapplers,
    Pirelli AT,
Continental AT, and the Bridgestone KO2,

I've had good success with Falkens on some of my sports cars but never consider them for a truck tire.

I had the Cooper at3's on my Jeep and wasn't very impressed with them.

One of the things I really like about the stock Michelin tires is general road feel and responsiveness. I'd like to keep that but with a little bit more aggressive ability off-road. The stock michelins are not much better than standard street tires.

I'll likely be going with a 275 70 but may also go for 285 70 not sure yet.

I bought 37 inch Falken wildpeak at3w. I had 35inch Nitto trail grappler Mt before and ride is much smoother now as compared to Nitto. And I also had Dry rot cracks on Nitto after 20k miles. But I had never any problem with them tho. Falken is smooth but not as aggressive as Nitto. The other option is Kenda klever Rt. They are cheaper and got lots of positive reviews.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I just put a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s on 6 weeks ago. So far so good, got rid of a set of load range E Goodyear Wranger Duratracs. Ride is significantly improved and these tires run smooth with no balance issues unlike the Goodyear’s.

No significant snow events so I can’t comment on inclement weather performance at this time. They are very good on gravel and dirt so far.

I had to have one of the patched due to picking up a nail. Easily the slowest leak I’ve ever had in a tire with a nail in it. Averaged a loss of maybe 4 PSI per 24 hour period until I got it fixed. So the rubber compound performed well in that regard.

Good luck, I think you’ll be pleased.

In all honesty Michelin’s kind of spoiled you for on the road smoothness and quietness. They are second to none in those departments as many of their tires are.

As the tire ability increases to Offroad the smoothness decreases. Unfortunately it’s a give and take scenario OP. You simply cannot have it both ways. I love the look of AT tires as much as the next guy but I also learned that I really don’t need a AT in any way. There are certain categories (all weather as an example) of tires that are starting to significantly out perform (not in blizzards) AT’s in winter.

However based on what your asking I would recommend the milder AT options…Continental AT, Yokohama GO15, Nitto G2, or even another set of Michelin AT2’s? But again read up on them because they all have various pros and cons.

I’m running them in 295/70r18 on my Pro. They’ve been great in all conditions. Pretty quiet and smooth. For whats its worth I met a fellow Pro owner that has them on his truck in 275/70r18. He has around 75k miles on them and they don’t look much more worn than mine that only have about 2000 miles on. Crazy.

I was thinking 275/70, or 285 for fitment, is there a need for spacers or is there rubbing with the 295's

Also what is the hit on mileage?

I had the 275/70s for about a year but wanted bigger and then went to the 295s. I didn't notice much mpg difference from stock with the 275/70s but I definitely noticed about 1-2 mpg drop going to the 295s. Absolutely no modifications with the 275s and only had to remove the front little bumper deflector with the 295’s.

Here’s a couple pics of my truck with the 275/70s VS the 295/70s.

I just had the 295/70/18 wildpeak AT3’s installed a few weeks back and I’m very happy with them so far. I was also considering the nitto ridge grappler, the girlfriend runs the on her 4Runner and so far is really impressed with them. After getting price quotes from my local discount tire on the nitto at just around $1600 and considering the nitto did not have the snowflake winter tire rating I chose the wildpeak AT3’s . Then came the issue of availability, none of my local tire shops had the wildpeaks in stock so I did some shopping and found them in stock through a online supplier at just about $1200 shipped and installed at a local install shop of my choice. All in all it appeared to me I was getting a better well rounded all terrain all weather tire for a better price IMO. Just my experience and my $.02

Absolutely love mine. Had a bunch of trucks and different big name tires over the years. The Wildpeak AT3’s is the only thing I run these days.

Has them in 275/70 and grew tired of the noise. Quiet at first but didn’t stay that way. You can get used to the lousy braking, rougher ride and greatly reduced acceleration by going away from P tires but the noise did me in.

This is my long term concern. I love the look of these tires, but I absolutely do not need them for how I use the truck 99% of the time and hate loud tires. The truck definitely needs larger tires, however. Keep thinking about doing the Westcott kit and going with 295/70 Michelin tires.

Wildpeaks on mine. Probably close to 45k miles, they got less than 10k left. I've driven these things hard. Lots of rough, sharp rocks and gravel. Great in mud and sand and light snow, some slipping in rain from a stoplight.

Michelin Defenders if you're looking for road use. Greatest on road tire in the world. Ran them exclusively before Wildpeaks.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Not at all as pretty looking as the Wildpeaks, but probably a much better fit for my use.

Great tire for an all terrain. Ive tried cooper xlts and wildpeaks on the tundra (other than the stock at2s) and like the wildpeaks better if you want an aggressive AT. If you are more road focused, ditto the feedback on the Defenders- great tire for the road, wet, snow, mild off road (dirt, sand, etc).
