Is there a recommendation on how often you should rotate your tires? I know most will typically rotate them during an oil change (which is typically around the 3k-5k mile range) but was wondering if they should be rotated at specific mileage or in a specific amount of time (aka every "x" months).

Reason I ask is because I'm about to go ahead & schedule my first oil change at the 6 month mark and I only have about 1600 miles on the truck & tires. Wasn't sure if that was too soon for a tire rotation or if that even mattered?

    Thanks

I always rotate mine at the same time as an oil change (5K miles).

Every 5k miles with oil change. You don't need to rotate them now but you should once you hit 5k miles.

On new tires I did every other oil change. Around mid life of the tire I start every oil change. During all this I pay close attention to tire wear and make sure it's happening evenly and adjust accordingly which is the ultimate goal.

Cars.com states "Most vehicle manufacturers recommend that the tires be rotated on the same schedule as oil changes. In most cases that means every 7,500 miles or six months, though some have stretched the oil-change interval to 10,000 miles. Unless you drive fewer than about 7,500 miles per year, you should probably rotate tires every six months or so."

Thanks everyone. I'll wait till around the 5k mile mark. I had a feeling it was probably too soon to rotate them.

I get a tire "rotation due" email/text every six months from Discount Tires. It 's free. Usually works out about the same time for oil change. 5Kish.

Every 5K as well. Doing an oil change you might as well and have the tires rotated too.

Too bad Discount Tire doesn't start up a oil change side business. Make things a little easier.

Agreed, and they'd probably do very well.

I use Mobil1 0w-20 and change it once a year. I rotate my tires when I change oil since I typically drive less than 3k a year.

I have always rotated my tires every 5K , regardless of whether I'm doing an oil change or not!
