I don't have endless funds. If I did, I probably wouldn't be posting on tundras.com.

If you don't prefer to have HUD, don't get it. If you don't want it due to funds or it breaking, that's a personal problem. If you have a vehicle with HUD, don't turn it on. If it breaks, don't use it. Only positives come from having that feature.

Do all the extra components of a turbocharged truck keep you up at night?.. What if your utility bills are up a few bucks from the last month?

Broke usually implies temporary. Someone who is broke may or may not be poor.

This was going to be my question. Guessing not. Good enough for a $20M jet but I’ll pass, thanks.

I would argue that even if for a brief time you’re “broke” then at that time you’re also “poor”.
That’s how I’m seeing it anyway.

I have never had HUD but I won’t lie, I want it and I will have it. Hopefully it never takes a dump.

Ok, we are veering off course but educate me. You said that the OP must either be cheap (doesn’t want to pay to fix the HUD) broke (has no money to fix the HUD) or poor (can’t afford to fix the HUD). In that context, what is the difference at that point in time?

Hypothetically speaking, I owe 100k on my house and I pay it off with cash. I then pay another 60k in cash for renovations. I deplete my bank account temporarily but I have 300k in stocks/crypto but that's money I don't touch. I've got gold bullion, guns ammo, and other valuables. I am broke cash in hand wise, but I'm still worth well over a million. I don't have any money in my bank account to spare in the time being for an auto repair, but that's okay because I still earn 40k a month and I have a tons of assets. I do have money in my account for other necessities, but not fixing my HUD. The repair can wait a couple weeks until my account gets replenished and I continue my course on saving money/investing. I'm broke for a little while, but I'm not poor.

    Hope that helps.

If your cracking back $480k a year your bank account should always have some cash in it….. no matter what

Yes hence the reason I said "hypothetically".. Either way, shit happens.

Talk about going off topic lol. Sorry OP.

I only suggested to OP regarding the HUD options on the new '22 model. If a truck becomes available and the only thing missing is the HUD, it shouldn't be a make or break deal in my opinion.

But then others jump in and want to say people are "broke, poor, and don't have funds to fix it". Really??

I think the platinum and 1794 have it as a option packaged in. But no one knows still what pricing or options there are.

OP clearly wants HUD. You tell him he's better off without it for a cheap/broke/poor reason. Yes really. You're informed that this is a brand new vehicle and there's warranty. Heads up display is not groundbreaking technology.

Besides, these are toyotas. Isn't the break in period after 20 years/200k miles? Yup. Toyotas out live human beings. They even sell Sequoias and in nature those things live 3000+ years. I've got an 05 myself actually. Going to stay in the family heirloom. Goal is for it to still be in the family at least 400 years from now.

OP has nothing to worry about when it comes to a failing HUD on his Toyota. I'm genuinely sorry if I bothered you.

But your calling people broke/poor/cheap if they don't want the HUD? Thats your opinion and judgment of someone. I didn't say that getting the HUD would make you a rich/wealthy/spendy person did I?

HUD is "optional"- just merely stating my opinion of it. Not calling people out due to their wealth or age.

I didn't know Toyotas never had recalls or issues ?

There are a lot of things on a $20 million jet that won't be on the Tundra, and won't be missed.
