I purchased a set of front bumper caps for my 2018 SR5. Every video I've found online is for caps that are installed on top of existing chrome piece. I messaged PaintedOEMParts.Com and they said that I need to remove the existing chrome piece and then install new part and that I should be able to find a video on YouTube...trouble is I CAN'T!

Has anyone installed this part? Can you provide some tips or even better, a link to a video? I don't want to break anything while trying to remove existing caps.

    Thanks in advance!

I had the same issue when researching/purchasing bumper ends. There are plastic caps, such as BumperShellz, that fit over the existing chrome bumper ends, and there are actually replacement plastic bumper ends that go on in place of the metal chrome bumper ends. I ordered those by mistake and returned for BumperShellz type.

I did the install on mine. I just did one side at a time so I could look back at the other side if I need a reference. There are a few extra pieces you need to buy, so get those first. It wasn't a fun project, but not that bad. I just took it slow and it was okay.

Whats your thoughts on those caps? I've looked at them online and debating between those and the covers. How's the fit and paint quality?

@Nomoredomestics I've yet to install them. They look good inside the box though! Hahaha...hoping to have some time over this holiday weekend. They are an OEM part so I expect that they'll fit perfectly.

Let me know if you do. What did those set you back? I know they're more than the plastic covers.

FYI, you will need two new plastic trim pieces if you dont already have them...ask me how i know!! ha

They are the long thin pieces that screws from the bumper cap to the inner splash shields, if that makes sense. iirc, the plastic bumpers are thicker than the chrome and therefore the clips will not fit without breaking. i'm a bit rusty on the details as i did this swap like 3 years ago, but i just remember having to get those long/thin pieces to put it all back like OEM

    hope that helps
