:monocle:If you can’t have tow-hooks on the ‘22 with the 10-speed, why not put the 10-speed into the 2nd gen (which HAS tow hooks)?

I hear ya, but the fact that Tundra's don't have a six-speed manual trans option really grinds my gears.

There are companies that retrofit the zf 8 speed in newer rams to older 6sp rams, so it could be a (expensive) thing at some point. I'm down!

Yeah but the transmission cooler thread would be worthless. I would have bought a 6sp manual if available. Me and like 5 other people.

Nice! Yeah I figured it was a thing.

Ever heard of Duraburb? They put Duramax diesels in Suburbans and Yukons. I wanted one for a long time.

The manual was the only reason I was considering a dodge, then when I was actually in the market for a new truck dodge stopped offering the manual at all. Oh well if I have to let a stupid computer decide which gear I really want to be in it might as well be one from Toyota.

I bet this will happen. Who says one can’t have it all….V8/10 speed/tow hooks.

We could see how much of the new fuel economy estimates are due to simply having those extra gears. An interesting (and expensive) experiment!

Depending on if a 2.5 Gen member needs a new transmission, might not be as bad for them. I have seen 8000.00 costs on here to replace one.

Then all we need to do is convince the person to go down the rabbit hole when they post a new thread asking how do I get better mpg. Then when they figure everything out we add them to ours. But I won’t be the Guinea pig.

I'm your huckleberry! I would have owned a Tundra far before my time had they had a manual v8. It's the exact reason I have driven a Tacoma for 15 years.

At that point, for the same money, you could buy a REALLY nice SxS. It wouldn’t surprise as many people at stoplights though.

When our two boys started driving their first cars had to be stickshift. Mom's rule.
When the younger one took his drivers test, the examiner said this was her second time giving an exam in a standard. Kid told her, " Yep, and the first was my older brother." They sure know how to make a parent proud!

There must be a way we could simulate a ten speeder integrated onto a 5.7
For now, forget the logistical issues and just do the simulation.
I'm betting you get better mileage than the V6.

New transmission, new drive shafts, new gears, New computer? It would get expensive fast.

I can't even convince my wife to learn to drive standard now, 10 years after learning to drive. But she was very resistant to learning to drive the truck too until she realized it's not rocket surgery.

My dad is currently driving his first automatic car because he couldn't find a manual when he was shopping a few years ago.

My dad is practically a retired millionaire and he still cruises around in a 1998 regular cab toyota truck with a manual tranny just because its a toyota truck with a manual tranny, no matter how much shit people give him for the crappy car he drives.

Nah, computer simulation just to prove / disprove if it's viable.

It's gonna be the same idea as buying a new truck to save money on gas, it will never work out economically. New transmission, gearing, driveshaft, computer, labor, you are talking 10K+? You can buy a lot of gas for that kind of money.

My first 3 vehicles were manuals so I have some experience with them. In my younger days I did a lot of mudding. Autos are much better then manuals in most off road conditions and snow.
