I am thinking about the GMC Denali vs the Tundra Platinum. Why would I get the Tundra??

    Thanks for your replies.....

Same reason why I told my son not to go Ram Rebel. Truck won't last like a Toyota will as well as great re sale value. Toyota is not perfect but it's the most reliable manufacturer.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! If you can handle the inconvenience of the extra visits to the GMC dealership, go with the Denali. I had that same choice a year and a half ago but decided my time was too valuable to be sitting in a dealership service waiting room all the time.

I wouldn't buy the new Tundra. Not worth the money. I'd get the GMC AT4x with a V8 or the ZR2 if your sold on Chevy. I still like Ram overall vs. everything else.

    Welcome from NY.

Because you will be driving the Tundra more and not a loaner car from GMC.

Ask me in 3 years which was the right choice.

Seriously - historically, the Tundra had proven more reliable, stronger resale and more brand loyal customer base.

That all COULD change with 2022 - Will it ? Unlikely - but it could. Right now all we can speak to are the known commodities- the 2021 editions. Saying “sell me on the 2022” to a group of people who have never seen one in person for the most part - much less given one a test drive or have any hands on experience is going to get you exactly what you don’t want - biased, unfounded opinions and on a product. We don’t even know the COST of the Tundra yet. So how can I say the Tundra is a better buy - not knowing how much more or less it will cost?

A lot of the tech on the GMC is gimmicky to me - but you CAN get a V8. Wait a while or be prepared to lose $$ being an early adopter - knowing that being the first historically has more down than upside.

Have you checked out the new 2022 GMC Sierra AT4? Normally I’d say go with the Tundra for resale value, but in today’s upside down market who the hell knows what will play out.

Ok, I'll say it this way: isn't a 2021 Denali like $20k more than a 2021 Tundra Platinum? Any reason to expect that to change drastically for 2022?

if you have a standard garage (20'), go with the denali....

Im going to look at the regular AT4 when they come out in the spring.

not interested in the AT4x or ultimate, just a bunch of shit I wouldn't use on those.

I know of 3 people who have GM trucks that had their transmissions replaced before 50,000 miles. It was done under warranty, but they were also without their trucks for a month due to not being able to get parts. I also know people who have had no problems with their GM trucks, but many of them also trade trucks about every 3-4 years. My dad just bought a GMC this summer and it's a really nice truck, we'll see how it holds up 5-10 years from now.
If I were only going to keep my truck 3-4 years, I wouldn't care too much which brand I bought. I tend to keep my trucks for 10 years so it will probably be a Tundra.

Truth! I'm new to the board, own a 21 GMC 1500 Elevation 5.3L w/10spd. Trucks been in the shop countless times for blinking CEL's, they can't figure it out. My trucks build date also falls into defective lifter and valve springs. Their BS fuel management crap makes the truck feel like it's stalling coming to a stop. I've been a GM guy for life until this point. Still have my Camaro SS 1LE but I'm done with their trucks. Got it appraised and waiting for Toyota to take my order on a new Tundra. #5 on the list at the dealer.
