8.1' Bed: Who is getting one?

Edit: Apparently toyota got their own info wrong, no 8 foot bed.
More than I need personally, but I can see this making some people happy.

 

I thought so too at first, but looking at the space in front of the wheel on the TRD PRO (5.5') and a 6.5', it is bigger.

 

Looks like 6.5. Everything out so far has said no 8.1 on crew max.

I have to ask why someone who needs an 8’ft bed would bother to buy a 1/2 ton and not just step up to 3/4 ton?

 

I keep wondering why people who need to tow more than 12,000 lb would buy a 1/2 ton, but here we are.

I will take "Because sheets of plywood, fishing poles and the occasional couch don't come close to weighing 1000 pounds" for $500 Alex.

 

Because there are plenty of loads that don't exceed the payload capacity that would fit much easier in an 8 foot I suspect. Longer motorcycles, kayaks, multiple appliances, plywood, drywall, couches. Not having to hang out the back on some of those would be nice.

 

I am confused as to the confusion about an 8’ bed?

You make a great point, but for 20k less it's hard to turn down a half-ton.

 

The Dog Catcher top needs to have air venting for the animals to breathe these are tops for those of us who do work with our work trucks.

I suppose it is easy to understand your confusion though.

8.1ft confirmed for double cab.

 

Maybe in 10-15 years I can pick one up to do a camper conversion. That'd be pretty sweet.
