How do you monitor lock up? Is there something on the OBD fusion app that can do this?

I just can't wait for the next reply from someone who disagrees with me so I can strawman their argument and make myself feel good about knocking it down.

I heard that the Toyota engineers are next going to implement improvements to the engines by reducing oil capacity by 50%. The change will increase payload, improve ground clearance & aerodynamics (smaller oil pan), and better gas mileage with negligible effect on engine wear. They stated that the engines never needed that much oil to begin with. “This will also help contribute to our green efforts and the global oil shortage.” The more Senior (older) engineers who originally designed the engines could not be reached for comment as they either; resigned, accepted early retirement, or were reassigned.

    (Just a little sarcasm)

lol…. They just announced they are removing the radiator from the new Tundra engine, after further investigation the coolant temperature is well within their margins without the radiators, of course they will not verbalize what those margins are but we should just take their word for it.

I also heard they are going to put the old tundra's(gen 1) rear diff back in since the new one is too large for what people are doing with the truck. It consumes too much gear oil, gas and the added weight is taken away from payload so they decided they can just up the payload now too. I really hope the next thing they decide to do is put in a smaller radiator so it doesn't weigh as much.

They also announced that the tow rating has been set to match the Nissan Rogue. After further investigating owners lifestyles they feel people are towing and carrying too much weight. How dare an owner put a 4 wheeler in the bed of their truck and then tow a camper too, blasphemy! This is from a company that in 2007 bragged about towing the space shuttle, my oh my how times have changed!

Do it if you want. Knock yourself out. But don't act like you value "extended service life" when you run your truck in the mountains at around 1000lbs over the numbers plainly written on your door jamb and in your owner's manual.
Here's a single man pulling a 189-ton plane. Quick, somebody hook him up to a 7300 lb trailer with a 900 lb ATV on his back so he can go waltzing through the mountains!

saw a guy today with a pallet of sod in back of truck easy 2400lbs pulling his landscape trailer. It sat low but appeared to handle the load. It was an older Tundra probably 2016 had the cooler or he dropped the trans at the light

My buddy who’s a general contractor tried his best to kill his Tundra, he would haul equipment on trailers towing 14,000+ lbs and the Tundra never even flinched. That truck had 200,000 ridiculously hard miles on it when he replaced it, the body was destroyed on it by then. He did however have a transmission cooler!! I laugh when guys on here are sweating towing 4000-5000 lbs and wondering what gear to be in and never exceeding the owners manual designated towing speed limit of 65mph, the truck is capable of so much more when equipped with the proper components!

    Your statements are comical…

Personally I follow Toyota’s towing speeds and gear selection because I simply don’t enjoy beating the piss out of my truck…. I don’t know what the future holds therefore I don’t beat on everything I own “just because”. Even if they had no recommendations I would still drop a gear when necessary and drive slower. I can assure you that one's manhood or womanhood for that matter is not going to “enlarge” while doing 75 with a 9k trailer in the left lane.

And maybe you think Toyota recommends those speeds for safety purposes…no? Maybe…

I would love to see that YouTube video of the Tundra owner towing a 5k trailer while doing 75 mph after a deer runs in the middle of that mountainous highway or better yet when a young inattentive driver pulls in front of them…

An ass puckering possibly last moments for that driver… But hey keep supporting your buddy towing 50% above the Tundras max …you do you brother.

Awesome! Where did you find it? I searched the PIDs but didn't see it, I'm sure its probably named something odd unless it was user added? Thanks again

I've got it on mine, it is in the $10 Toyota add on pack, under the Toyota section when you pick which value to display. I don't know the formula for it and I've never seen it posted (unlike the AT pan and TC temp)

Sorry I missed your question… the one I’m using is in the $10 Toyota expansion pack like @steved0xTD said.

In all fairness it is not all that obvious when buying the software exactly what is required to add these features.
I had to search for a short while to comprehend the added pack of gauges myself.
It is also unclear to me if you can just make your own gaige from scratch using the entry manually or not and it seemed well worth the $10 to me to not hurt myself trying to figure this out.

Now of course I am dubious of the accuracy of the gauge anyway as mine seems to run hotter than I imagined and I have to wonder if the gauge can be tweaked or checked somehow to promise accuracy in some other way?

Apologies to @batman900, I can see how that might’ve come across as condescending... All I really meant was sorry I didn’t see that question, which was aimed at me, until someone else answered it. I edited it for clarity.

The Toyota pack is well worth it. When I switched my Pan and TC PIDs to the Toyota-specific ones in the pack, I noticed that my temps went up a bit as well (like a couple of ºF only). They just use a slightly different formula, and I think the Toyota PIDs are probably more accurate than the generic PIDs that come with the app.

I wasnt criticizing you at all I was just saying that getting the trans temps working was not just plug and play for me.
More important though is whether they read accurately or not.
