Interested in a subtle but highly functional bull bar. Seems to be mixed reviews on whether actually protect vehicle from collisions with deer and such but I like the look and have extra lights behind my grill to protect. I also would like to build in a 2 inch hitch for my surf rod holder.

I do not necessarily need a winch, see that as overkill. Any insights or recommendations greatly appreciated.

A bull bar, the kind that bolts on (tow hook area) is cosmetic and will not protect from a hit. They can/will bend back into the truck on a decent impact and could cause even more damage.

For protection, you will want a real bumper with integrated bull bar, something like the ARB or Ranch hand bumper.

And hello, I am in VA too!

If you want real protection you need a arb type bumper. I have had one for a long time and deer bounce off them. The Bull bars and brush guards are for looks

Don't have any suggestion on the front guard. But if you are just carrying some surf rods perhaps my idea below might work for you.

I have been thinking about removing the passenger tow hook and replace it with a 2 inch receiver tube when I have some time.
I think there should be enough clearance under the oem bumper to get it mounted without any mods.
Drill the receiver tube using the brackets with the holes as a template, enlarge the lower holes to fit the socket for re-installation.
This would provide me place to insert a " horizontal hitch extender" and extend above the hood to act as a front mounting point when carrying my canoe.
Load wise this would be minimum so I think this would work for my needs, with the cost of a receiver tube being about 20 bucks at HF.

They do sell a front hitch for the Tundra's if you are going to be carrying a lot of load.

with all of the new tech on the '22s, I'm going to be curious to see how long it takes for full aftermarket bumpers to arrive on the market.

Months? They just need to be shaped to not be in the way of the cameras. Looking at the 2022 the aftermarket bumpers should be pretty awesome. Specially the rear bumper. A full wrap around high clearance without any cutting required.

Shes definitely going to need new bumpers but how do you account for the long distance to the frame and the sensor calibration??

No idea. But I’m sure the bumper guys all ready have the bumpers designed they just need a truck to figure out the details. I’ll probably wait at least a few years until I upgrade . Probably be looking for something aluminum without bull guards. Just to keep
    It lighter

Radar works, no parking sensors or bsm bs on my truck. Not needed if you know how to drive and have fair eyesight. I would never buy all that crap, and really don't use cruise either because when conditions permit my foot gets really heavy.

Can we get some better profile pictures of that on your rig? I've been looking for bull bar options, but that thing looks pretty mean.
