ok so I have a 2012 trd crewmax with the 5.7 and about a month ago on the way home from work my a/t temp light and check engine light came on and my truck shut off. I turned the key off started it back ran fine....until Sunday, I hauled my 5x8 trailer about 50 miles (no heavy load just 2 dressers) and it did it again. I restarted it ran good for another couple miles I met my client exchanged the furniture (sat in one spot for 45min/hr) then proceeded home. That’s when the fun started. Every qt mile it kept shutting off. I’d coast turn the key off put it in neutral then restart and it’d drive fine for another qt mile shut off. There was no slipping, slamming or weirdness in the tranny prior. Now when I start it it’ll idle for about a min then shut off with the a/t temp light and check engine light. Any ideas? I checked the gas that’s good, tranny temp never went above normal. Hoping maybe bad sensor?

Any chance you have rodents chewing on your engine wires?

My transmission completely failed at 18x,xxxk and never did this. It lost reverse & stopped going above 4th, never killed the truck.

Sounds like a sensor or computer issue to me.

    Good luck

Well ran a scanner on it after it’s been sitting at home all day. Did a live data read on it and be fore I even started the engine it said my trans temp was 150f? Shut it off it goes down to 0 start it right to 150f then the truck shuts off...any ideas where this pos of a sensor is located so I can replace it lol

    Hi Jay12trd,
Did you ever find a solution to your warning light issue? I'm having the same problem. Looking for a fix.
    Thanks!
