Yes, exactly. I cut a pigtail from a junked truck wiring harness and plugged it onto my existing clock spring. Then I cut the connector off on my trucks harness and soldered the wires on my truck to the new plug and added the wires to control the steering wheel buttons.

Yesterday I did an oil/filter change, greased ujoints, and then decided to do the diffs/xfer case.

Today I did poly rack bushings. I had no idea how much play there was in my steering. Glad I did this!

Thanks! Not a big fan of the fake beadlock but love them otherwise. Might try to black out the silver bolts. Maybe some small vinyl decals or similar.

Gonna look good! On both of my SCS’s I’m not a hug fan of fake beads. So I painted my bolts as well. Pizza box, put a grid on the box, make some holes. Put bolts in holes. Paint and set for a day, then clear. Rest for a day, install! Makes a huge difference. Go with color matched bolts. Be awesome.

The RT105's looked good also but definitely like the RT107's.
Have to figure out if Gold goes with Salsa Red Pearl(maroon)

I like this idea! I'm having a hard time picturing how you did it tho. Any pics or sketches? Or can you elaborate?

Might even do the whole outer lip, kinda like this:

    Here go sir!

space out well. Even coats with paint, lots of small sprays and let dry in between. Has held up great on my SCS’s on the 4runner.

dab of blue lock tite when reinstalling.

This is great man! I’ll have to check if the bolts come out of these wheels. I certainly hope they do. I also got your text and I appreciate it. I am working two weeks in a row and covering the overnights right now so I’m a bit of a vampire I didn’t get a chance to respond. Appreciate it man!

New oil and filter yesterday at just under 197k miles. These 5k intervals seem to go by quickly when it’s my daily. My last several vehicles, as well as my wife’s, have been 10k oil change intervals. But I have a lot of time off each month and it’s all part of the joy of first gen ownership I suppose.

Today, I threw in some new LCAs with new bushings. Mostly because they’re so inexpensive for as vital as they are to ride quality, but I’ll also be mounting new wheels soon and therefore will be redoing the alignment. Plus I figured with the age and mileage, it was due. Was a bear of a job at times but the reward is certainly worth it. I thought it rode well before but it’s noticeably better now! Took me about 3.5-4 solid hours and all but one of my eccentric/cams came out easily. One I had to persuade a little more. I sanded them clean, coated in anti-seize, and reused. Was a 2 beer job and 2 beer cleanup.

Vinyl wrapped my rear bumper yesterday to complete the chrome delete. It's excellent from 5 feet, pretty darn good up close, save for a few wrinkles underneath. For the cost of material and an hour's time, I'm pretty pleased with the result. Used two 5'x1' tools for a total of $32. The Satin Dark Grey is a good match for Phantom Grey Metallic. I now have my grill, mirror caps, and rear bumper wrapped in this stuff and it's been holding up perfectly, car washes and all.

Got some new wheels. Rocktrix RT107. Great fit and finish. It’s a darker matte bronze than it appears in some of the photos.

Thanks man! They’re about $165/each. Can find them on Amazon, eBay, or the manufacturer site. Excellent quality for the cost.

In comparison to a good looking method wheel you could almost get three of these for the price of one method. Those are SWEET!

Hey man, I'm sorry I forgot to reach out to you. I listed the old wheels for cheap on FB marketplace and had 10 messages in 20 minutes. First guy showed up with cash within the hour! Guess they were priced well.

No worries! Glad they sold. I’m on the other side of the country and they are 17
Inch rims and I have the stock 16’s…so it probably wouldn’t have been worth it for me. But either way it works out. Thank you!

I’m not sure if this will help anyone else, but I figured I may as well document it anyway since I'm ridiculously detailed in my records for my vehicles.

Two weeks ago, I pulled all my coils to check my spark plug torque as these motors are notorious for loosening plugs. Plugs were fine, but I noticed slight cracks or maybe plastic seams along the coils.I numbered the and cataloged them by severity. I decided I would replace three of them (see pics below).I ordered new OEM denso coils and replaced the worst one (8) and drove for a week. There was absolutely zero difference. At that point, it’s not returnable so I’ll keep that one new coil installed and keep the old one as a spare. I returned the other two new coils. So if you are like I was, on the fence as to whether or not you should replace coils with hairline cracks or plastic weld seams that have slightly separated, I would say don’t do it unless you have symptoms. I had zero symptoms, but figured there might be room for improvement. In my case, nope.

Last week I installed Seat Jackers front seat spacer from Desert Does It. HUGE improvement in comfort for my lower back and legs. There's no way to accurately describe how nice these are. You just have to try them. The only downside is my knees are fairly close to the bottom of the steering wheel when I have it adjusted to my liking. Still, highly recommended if you're on the taller side (i'm 6'1").

    *not affiliated, just love these*
