I've read the the Gen 1 armor threads several times and chased down some leads from 2019ish. Went with the coastal offroad front bumper - sweet. I'm fabricating my rear. Sliders and skids are where I'm looking.

Best options today for DC sliders seems to be Brute Force, (message in), White Knuckle (saw some today, they look good) and Victory (I don't care for the plates on those).

Skid row seems to be the bet for skids and cat guards.

If you know of anything I'm missing that is available currently for a DC, I'm all ears. Much of the stuff I really liked is no longer in production, but the White Knuckle and Skid row will do it. I'll give Billy a little time on the Brute Force, but not forever.

    Thanks.

    E

I didn't see the plates/skids changing for me, so pulled the trigger on the Skid Row with cat guards.

I got the front, oil, trans, cat add ons. I don't need the transfer case. There's an easy 10% off code to find. I called it in because their site certificate is expired for security as they upgrade their website. Talked to Eric, nice guy.

Yea, most people are really fond of those things. Before I buy a 4WD Gen 2, I'm gonna see what a locked rear will do. :)

Good move. When I saw you mention victory I worried, I wouldn't put anything they make on my truck. Half of their stuff causes damage on turd gens if you read around.

I love my sliders but they were overpriced then and now they are even more. I'm glad I was able to use my Trump-Check. Thanks fellow taxpayers. :hattip:
I use mine as a step all the time. Easy access to the tire.

So, anyone want to talk me out of a full suit of armor? Kinda pricey but at least matchy matchy? I think my truck already has some basic skids but I'm guessing these are either better or lighter?

I would talk you out of it, but I ordered all of that minus transfer case. I don't want to be a hypocrite.

Are you really planning to offroad it that hard? If not, I wouldn't waste the money. These are going to be a lot more heavy than what's on there. I have the first two skids, front and oil pan. I don't know if I'll ever add the trans skid or not.

Me, I’m the worlds biggest wimp at stuff like this. So, no, absolutely no plans to ever need any of this.

but the truck builds, Taco and Tundra, they are targeted toward my boys (6 and 4) who display an impressive lack of judgement. They beat stuff to a pulp. These trucks are my gift to them when I’m 60 and they are 20 ish. Because MT and RCLB v8 will presumably be even more rare in 15 years.

I could wager that skids will be available in 10 years and buy when I actually need then. But the build also serves as some way to distract myself from the intolerable stupidity of refereeing bickering children.

there is also some hope that I’ll do light wheeling / camping as they get older. Not sure on that.
