Okay, took everything apart (it was pretty easy). The pistons themselves looked like they had a little surface rust on them. Sprayed them down with brake cleaner and blew off with compressed air. Next, I used brake lube on the back of the pads where they contact the pistons.

    Problem seems to be solved.

Now, a few of us here were curious as to what pads they put on. The back of the pads are stamped "TOYOTA" and "ADVICS" so it seems that they used the OEM parts that I requested. I think?

Sorry you had to take everything apart. I would call the shop and let them have it.

If the rotors are not oem, then it could be the back of the rotor hat rubbing on the dust shield. This happened to me with the Powerstop brake kit and to others as well. Eventually, the dust shield wore enough that it stopped making noise. Non-oem rotors have a little lip on the back of the hat that you should grind down Before installing. If it’s all oem, than the brake lube you used will solve it.

You ever figure this out? My stock brakes lasted 125k miles. I had dealer install new brakes and rotors and they've been squeaky as hell. Nails on a f'n chalkboard squeaky. Last oil change they said I need new brakes....after just 20k miles! The time they actually looked at the brakes they said "oh you had a rock in the right rear caliper". Well what about the other 3 squeaky bastards? Anyway., going back in next week and will likely make a scene when they try to charge me another $900 for a crappy brake job. Again, this an actual Toyota dealership

Nope. Just learned to live with it. Brakes work great though.

This is 99.9% times the issue outta 100. the brake rotor is rubbing the dust shield. My truck did this and my buddies. Even with OEM rotors the toyota dealership in New England will cut/grind that part of the rotor before installation.

Your brakes will work 100% fine, just makes an annoying noise. Frustrating to deal with this. Good luck

since it seems OP has his problem fixed/figured out :threadjacked: I'm just generally curious both times I have done slotted and drilled rotors as a kit with supplied pads after the bed in process I still get a lot of pad chaffing in the rear for what seems like roughly 500-800 miles afterwards normally have it happen for a few hours then mainly on turns. is this mainly a side effect of the rear being harder to break in?

So you would think for the amount of money the Toyota dealership charges for brake job in 2020 ($990) (pads, calipers and rotors) you would assume they are Toyota parts! Right? No mine where remanufactured O'reilly Auto Parts calipers & ceramic pads except for the rotors OEM. The previous brake job in 2016 the same Toyota dealer a NAPA caliper, rotor & pads ($590) ! Only 4 years & 52.565 miles between brake jobs! Now in the last week I now have warped rotors! I bought this 2004 Tundra in March 2006 with 34,000 miles at that time a lot of complaints about warped rotors were going around. So my 1st brake job was at 64,000 miles had it done at my work place for only $216 parts & labor in 2008. 100,000 miles on that one until 2016 brake job. Am I getting ripped off by the dealer?
