I would like to restore the long plastic piece between the windshield and hood. Do I need to mask it off before using Cerakote? Has anyone else used it on this piece and reviews on using Cerkote? Some of the reviews on Amazon are saying it leaves streaks. How does it compare to wipe new?

Love Cerakote! Ive not used it on that part but have used it on other plastic trim parts. Others have even used it on wheel wheels.

Key is to clean the part well before application and the part MUST be completely dry. It can streak, but again, correct prep and making sure the part is fully dry before application will minimize steaking possibility. Once applied, it needs time to cure (24 hours I think) and again, needs to stay dry so do not apply if rain, dew or such is possible. If you applied in the morning on a nice dry day that should work out nicely.

Outstanding product. Works great and lasts a damned long time. Just be careful and follow directions perfectly. The product lasts a really long time, as do the imperfections if you screw it up.
I’ve not used it on the cowl, but it definitely will work very well, haven’t gotten it on glass, so I don’t know how tough it will be to get off if you do. I’d definitely tape any areas you don’t want it on.
This reminds me. @AzureNightmare asked how it would do on chrome. I put some on a mirror cap about a year ago and left it in my garage. I need to check it and see how it’s held up.

I did my wife’s 4Runner a couple weekends back. Love it on the cowl and textured running boards. Glossier than I’d prefer. Also did good things for her hood bug shield. The headlight kit was terrific. 11 years old and they look near new. I should add that I spent $550 and half of a Saturday replacing all of the flat black parts on her vic because the results were so bad. Only use it on soft, textured plastic ie; cowl, bumper step pads. It’s a no go for smooth parts like belt moldings, appliqués and blackout tape. Streaky and lumpy if not PERFECTLY applied the first try. It dries exactly as applied, no leveling out. Even after getting a little sideways with the product I do still plan to do my tundra’s cowl and rear bumper step pad with the next thorough wash.

I applied some there on my last truck and it did well. I barely touched the glass and just wiped it off immediately with a paper towel and all was good.
