You give them cash and the correct coin change and it's a deer in the headlights..

I always tip at Sonic, even $1 for my Route 44 1/2 and 1/2 tea with lemon.
I got a #1 combo (no mayo or ketchup) a few weeks ago and paid with my debit card in the kiosk.
The kid bought me my food and I asked for change for a $20 , a $10 and 2 $5s.
I got it and I told him keep one of the $5s and give me back $15.
He was so fucking lost and just stood there.
He thought I was scamming him.
I said "I'm giving you a $5 tip, are we good?"
He just walked off with a confused look on his face.

Wife wanted small hot fudge sunday from Dairy Queen a month ago.
We pulled in, ordered, pulled up to pay.
It was $3.25, handed the girl a $10 and a quarter.
She gave us back $6 and change, we had to explain to her the money exchange.
She looked at us like we were the stupid ones..

Cash really screws them up.
This has happened at other places as well.

 

Yup. Everyone relies on the register to do the math for them. It's dumbfounding.
