Installed mine today! Very easy, thanks. I did however find that my tail light has a loose piece inside which is a no Bueno.

Just got this installed. Very easy. I took some “before” pics last night and will post those once I get a chance to take the “afters”.

    A few tips
    1. @junior is right. Lots of dirt falls down on you when you are under the truck doing the second connection. Dirt in the armpit tickles. Who knew…
    2. Use a trim piece removal tool or something similar to pop out the rear taillight. Mine were pretty tight and I broke one last time installing LED bulbs.
    3. The connection under the truck was hard (for me at least) to grip and open so you can connect the new harness. It is held in place by a plastic pin. If you get a good grip on the connector and pull straight down (carefully) it will slide out. Then it is easy to get the connector apart.
    Pics to come soon

Installed easily and works great. This should be OEM function. THANKS @Puppypunter

It is hard to see a difference in the two pictures, but remember we are looking at pics from my phone of the truck’s camera. I won’t say the difference is epic, but it is noticeable and beneficial. The bushes/trees in the 2nd pic are a bit more washed out, so that tells me the truck’s camera was opening the aperture to let more light in. That’s a good thing overall.

Both pics were taken at 8:30pm two days apart. I put my front tires up to the driveway’s curb so the distance is the same.

A few other factors that make it hard to see a difference are 1) my house is very well lit, so some light is coming from the driveway and reflecting off the trees, and 2) I’m running aftermarket LED bulbs in the reverse lights since the OEM sucked so bad.

The license plate bulbs washing out the camera at night was probably one of the first WaDaFuk moments I had when I bought my truck. It is a horrible design and something I immediately noticed when backing up at night. I’m really happy with this harness and looking forward to its benefits in the coming winter months.

I wish I took hi-res before and after photos.

I’ll agree with every member posting here, this should be an OEM feature.

@Puppypunter product is cleanly built and installs easily.

The only, ONLY, downside to this product is that I do not know enough tundra owners who want to “mod” their trucks…

Before I went so far as to paint part of the license plate bulbs black to dim their light.

Now I can use unnecessary LED license plate bulbs again. :D

:rofl:I hear you... last year I tried to cut 2 little squares for the lights using an extra one of those "privacy" phone screen protector things that are polarized for light in certain directions but that didnt work out. My harness has been working great since installed!

Ok, those last couple were it. I am passing the baton to @daveeasa on these. He does great work if you’re not familiar with it. He is also more attentive than me :)

Should we do a new thread or convert this thread? Hmm. Might be nice if I had control of the first post I think. Maybe a new thread and we mark this one with a pointer to it?

I’m still struggling to catch up so my output is likely to underwhelm. I have dozens of mods to do for my FGT as well. For now it’ll just be me shouldering the DIR I think. IHacker has the headlights taken care of.

I’m just too overloaded to be able to innovate. That responsibility will remain with the ‘punter-o-pups

Awesome upgrade. Took about ten minutes to install. Has made avoiding the dog when reversing so much easier as the wash out in the reverse camera on my Tundra Gen 3 was really bad in the lower part of the screen. Now the screen is crystal clear. Great mod - simple install, well built. 10/10. Thanks daveeasa
