I never checked to measure, but it clears them with no problem. Icon designed their 17” wheels to fit over the Tundra’s big brakes and with a +25 offset to boot. I think the only thing to watch out for is careful placement of the wheel weights so they don’t hit the caliper and get bumped off.

Another option to consider is a set of used OEM 17” “Rockwarrior” wheels. I believe Method Racing also offers 17” wheels that fit over the Tundra’s brakes.

Looks like it's going to be the Icons then. Thank you for the input!

Came here to say that trying to balance 17" has been an absolute nightmare. Last attempt took the crew at High Country 4x4 2.5 hours and then returned them saying "It tracks but it'll still have wobble". After 3 balance attempts I'm done and cautioning anyone considering 17's to think twice. Hell, think 3 times. I was running Icons with BFG 35's.

Are you sure it’s the 17” Icons? Did they say one of them was out of round? Did they try any other brand or size of tire to rule out the Icons?

i understand bigger tires can be harder to balance. And out of the many sets of BFGs I’ve ran in various vehicles for over 20 years, only one set has balanced well, and it’s the 315/70/17 AT/KO2s I’m running now on my 17” Icon Rebounds. All the other sets always had a bit of a steering wheel shimmy and never could balance right, but the set I have on now, albeit not a true 35 (more like a 34.4), run really smooth.

Yup, 17” icon rebounds - shop confirmed everything is true.

I don’t know, I can understand why it holds some appeal but if it feels like if your shoe size is an 11, and the shoe salesman said “Yeah but you could run in a 10 if you took your socks off”, something isn’t going to work right at some point.

As others have stated go to a different shop, if I had to guess your 17" rim and tire ain't the problem, it's the shop balancing them. I've heard hundreds of stories, took it to xyz shop 10 times to try and balance, each time they couldn't, then they take to a different shop, no problem. Either it's a freak issue with your rim or tire, but more likely the shop balancing, if the guys response was stop watching YouTube and get a 18"rim, I'm guessing the shop is the issue. Good luck.

Thanks! ( if that was directed my way:)) I'm glad I made the move to 17s. Cheaper tires and I prefer the look. Also more ability to air down if needed or even to just soften the blow of the E rating.
To 2nd @mgm16trdpro I would also bet the real issue is the shop. Initially the manager at my DT comes out and says something about tundras with 17s and calipers something about rubbing blah blah blah... I dismissed him and said 'ya, I know its tricky but if you guys just put the weights where I showed you I've got the rest taken care of. I'm aware." He shrugged and said 'ok'. 30 min later they called and said it was done.

Whoops missed the 5 different shops part. Maybe you do have an issue with the product then. I've posted before about a couple different balancing methods and depending on which where to place the weights. I printed out the very same instructions and took them to a my trusted shop. Without issue I've already been on stock pro18s with 1.25 spacers on 295/70r18s nitto rgs, to method 17s with 35x12.5r27 Pibull Rockers, to now same setup but with Toyo oc mts. Not 1 issue yet. Just so you know it's definitely not an issue, long as the products are true and the shop is capable to balance correctly using their chosen method.

    Upcoming....
Hello everyone, I'm new here and looking for tire swaps. It appears that my 17" idea is a go but tire size is what has be on the cautious side now. I have a TSS, not a TRD and I'm unsure the differences in factory ride height. My truck came with the 275/55/20 that everything seems to be stuck with now a days and I was thinking about going 285/70/17, will going from 31.9"x 10.8" to 32.7"x 11.2" be a deal breaker, seems pretty insignificant to me..

    Appreciate the feedback!

I'm sure someone will chime in here who has done it with factory ride height. I agree with you that the overall change is insignificant and shouldn't pose any issue. One of the early posts in this thread is running a 295/70 17 on stock suspension and that is a 33.3 x 11.6 on a 0 offset wheel. What is the offset on your 17 wheels? Also keep in mind that the first step most of us take in gaining tire clearance is removing the little front mud flap. That alone should give you more clearance than you will be adding in tire. So that's probably worst case scenario. I am unaware of any differences of stock ride height differences between the TSS and TRD.
Good luck! The overall size wont change much but imo more rubber and less tire always improves the look!

Are the 717’s hub centric? There’s a guy locally selling a brand new set for $900CND ($700USD) I want to hop on

I don’t even know if my method nv305’s are hub centric and I’ve been running them for a few years so maybe I’ll just pull the trigger and get the 717’s lol

I’ve been happy with them! I have a bit of a shimmy with mine but I think it’s a tire and not the wheels

Can I ly tell me what's the max tire size I can run on a 2013 CM 4x4 Platinum on a 17x8.5 +25mm size wheel? My stock tundra is in need of new tires but I hate my 20in wheels and looking to go to 17s. The Icon Alloy Rebound to be exact. I will be riding on stock height since i am not going to be lifting it in the near future (got a wedding to pay for). Might get a lift in 2 years tops so I rather get the wheels now. I'm thinking 258/70R17 might be the size but I rather go bigger if possible. Thoughts?

I’ve got a set of 295/70/17 KO2s sitting in my garage waiting to install with icon 6 speeds. I kindof want to go with a 315/70/17. I’m going to do a 2” level and but not convinced that the bigger tire will fit without cutting.

I talked myself into the idea that the bigger heavier tire would feel like reduced power, burn more gas, etc. trying to make myself feel better about the smaller tire. then I looked here https://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/auto/tires/all-terrain-t-a-ko2

I have felt lately that I’m losing my mind - what am I missing here? Does it say here that the bigger tire weighs less?

Hey y’all new here ran 17’s on my 12 4x4 tundra with a leveling kit loved the look and ride just got a new 21 4x4. Just bought an eibach stage 1 leveling kit CB shim and CB +2 for the rear and a set of 17” Icon rebounds what do y’all recommend tire size if I don’t wanna do a BMC. I don’t mind removing and massaging plastics. I’m trying to get as close to a 35 as possible

maybe. I saw it first on tiresize.com and didn’t believe it so went to bfgoodrich to confirm. I think from a weight perspective it’s so close the the difference won’t make much difference. I’m gonna put on the 295s next week and see what I think. I can swap them out if need be.

I got some Alphaequipt Echo wheels. They’re 17x8.5, +35 offset. Cleared the calipers and look real good. Thinking I might let them go tho, the TRD BBS’s are p neat.

Not much info on their site, but after reaching out to them on insta, they’re 6160 T6. Which is a p solid alloy.

    Too many, but not enough....
Anyone put a set of these on yet? These are the wheels I am wanting to get but not sure how the 17's will fit.
