For those of you that have put these rubber washers in, where did you place the 2 rear-most washers? Top side of skid under the aluminum sleeve or top side of skid on the top side of the frame with the nut?

edit: nevermind. Just read a few posts above. Sorry guys I’m slow sometimes :D

I went sandwiched between the top of the skid and the bottom of the crossmember.

Thanks man, done deal. Figured while I had it off doing suspension I’d just do it. Mine wasn’t popping, but you know sure as I put it back on it would start. Funny, those tapered washers on top of the cross member I didn’t know they were there and they fell off in the middle of my road doing a test drive. I ran them over and heard em ting off the road, I was like, I should grab those. Totally didn’t know what they were or where they went until visiting this thread. So thanks for the pics @Honz !

Took my ‘21 into the dealership on a Saturday after having the creek occur around 1k miles. Apparently Toyota Service Dept is now finally aware of the service bulletin that has been issued and as long as the Parts Dept has the part in stock (part number/description listed below) they will easily fix… No charge as covered under warranty and I want to say they billed .25hrs labor (which I think is the min) but I never saw the cost of the rear fasteners so I’m unable to tell you for sure the cost of those if you just wanted to pick up from parts and skip the 3hrs shopping at Costco while they repair. Appears this doesn’t happen to everyone at the same time, or at all in some cases - hope this helps as my truck no longer sounds like it’s been ridden hard!!

I think you can only get them as part of the hardware kid listing in the diagram, and it's around $80...

Dammit! I put the spacers on upside down! For some reason I figured the cutout cup went face up towards the nut. Thanks for this though...haha

    Too many, but not enough....
I just used some thick weather stripping foam that I had laying around and it worked like a charm and hasnt returned in 6+ months.

Does anyone know whether the new hardware is different from original?

Please update us if the sound comes back and I hope not.

Just put a strip between the plate and the cross member of the frame. Hasn’t made a noise since.

Is the orientation of those black square spacers important? Was reinstalling mine tonight and give the awkward angle I am not 100% they are in the right place

Not too sure. Mine starting making a small amount of creaking again recently but I need to take it in for an oil change next week so I will have them tighten or replace (if needed)

Yes - the service manual shows the correct way. I’m pretty sure it’s with the fat apart to the middle of the crossmember with the countersink down.
Those support the top spacers so that you don’t crush them when torquing down the nuts and bolts.
