My 2021 Crewmax should be arriving this week. I plan to put on 35s, will have a canopy, as well as have JBA UCAs.

My original plan for suspension/lift is to run 6112s at the top setting in front with +2 (1.25") CB shackles on the rear. I also have one .5" CB shim for potential drivers side lean. I am aiming for ~2.5" of ride height but really do not want to be nose high.

As an alternative, I'm wondering if I should consider running the 6112s at the 1.9" setting and have one CB shim on the passenger side and two on the driver side. This potentially removes some pre load on the coil, and may allow for a smoother ride.

Hoping there are a few of you who have ran the 6112s at top setting and also one setting down with shims. Pros and cons of each setup?

Just pick a preferred height. Either aim for 2.5" or 2" of lift.

Either lifts heights will be fine with 35s, I ran 35s on a stock Pro. Beyond that add a shim to the DS and it will be level.

People add 2 to the DS and 1 to the PS at the 2.5" setting to get 3". I wouldnt recommend that if you would like to prolong the CV axle life.

6112's Top Setting; Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 295 70 R 18 stock rims. 5160's rear; no shackles. Only had to trim the skid plate for rub and remove small mudflap in the front of the tire.

What is your opinion on ride quality at the top setting?

I probably should have been clear in my original post...

I'm interested more in the potential difference in ride quality between the two settings. 2.5"-ish in height is what I'm aiming for.

Ride quality at first was a little "stiff" for me. Living in South Louisiana, worst roads in the whole world!! Sugarcane trucks and heavy oilfield trucks over the years have destroyed our roads and our politicians can never seem to find the funds to repair them. But I digress!! I aired down my tires to ~35 psi and it tamed the ride considerably. It still is a bit stiff on daily drives to and from work (about 40 miles roundtrip), but the old camp road to my deer lease is really bad. The Bilsteins suck up the bumps, dips, holes, and whatever they come across. Night and day from the Z71 I used to have and way better than the Bilstein 4600's that came on the truck. I think if you can clear the 35's at the 2nd to highest setting on the 6112's then I would think the ride would be better. I have often thought of dropping mine next alignment but have not yet. About 13,000 miles or so on the tires/shocks since install, and don't regret it.

Well I just placed an order for a few more CB shims. I think I am going to go with the 1.9" 6112 setting and shim the difference to ~2.5".

Saw recent pics of your ride in another thread. You mention 'shims'. Can you spec out how many CB shims driver/passenger?

    Thanks ....great looking rig

I am on top setting with 2 shims and have no complaints for ride quality. I also however changed wheel set up from 31s on 20s to 35 on 18s which helped ride quality a lot as well.

So my final setup is 6112s set @ 1.9" with two .5" CB shims on the DS, and one .5" and one .25" CB shim on the PS side. Also had JBA UCAs installed to help with alignment geometry. The rear got 5100s with CB +2 shackles (provides ~1.25" actual lift in rear). Wheels are Method 701s +25 offset wrapped in 35×12.50 Toyo Open Country AT3s. They removed the front mud flaps and at first I didn't have any rubbing. After some settling I now have a very slight rub on the DS body mount when reversing 1/4 turn from full lock to the left. I may have to chop it eventually but am still waiting on my canopy to see how that effects things. A few thousand miles of wear would alleviate the rubbing as well.

    CB shim total:
Three .5" (2 on DS, 1 on PS)
    One .25" (PS side)

Hoping you can give some advice. I'm thinking about going with 6112's set on 3rd clip for 1.9" plus .250" shims for + .500" and +2 CB shackles in the rear. Will this require UCA's or a front diff drop? How do you like your setup since its been on a few months? Thanks.

You shouldn’t need anything else. I did get JBA UCAs for better alignment running 35s but I probably could have gotten away with stock. No diff drop. I have been very pleased with the setup. Not sure what you’re doing for tires and wheels but that plays a large part in what you might have to tinker with.

The 35s do rub the body mount at 1/4 turn before full lock. I don’t mind all that much but may see if they can play with the alignment and get rid of the rub before I consider BMC.

Here is how she sits now:

How has it all settled in? Can you take a picture from the front or back for poke? And how much rake in the back? I got the ARE topper so I'm not sure if I need CB +3 (i think thats a thing)?

I'm looking to go the same route but with 17's with 285/17 looking at methods 703 with the +35. Might go 285/70-18 with the methods 701 though. Both are like 33.8x11.2

I’m probably dead level with the +2 shackles and canopy in back. I haven’t measured recently so I’m just guessing.

For whatever reason I have slightly more poke on the rear passenger side than the rear driver. Apparently this is common with some Tundras as I have seen this before.

Yours looks awesome! I think i'll need to go +3 as I always have a bit of weight in the back with drawers.

    Thanks.

I have a hi lift, fire extinguisher, shovel and axe mounted in the back. Knowing how it sits now and if I had to do it over, I’d go +3.

post some pictures when you get it finished.

I like the look. I just did 5100s at top setting and a cb shim driver side, still have a little under 1" rake. Did you add shims to both sides? Anything done to back?

I'm thinking of doing likewise. This might sound dumb, but if you're gonna use a shim with the 6112s, do you have to order them unassembled? Or does the shim go on top of the assembled 6112?

Shims goes on top. My 6112s did not come assembled and used the OEM top hat.

Beautiful setup. What shims do you have? Size and count. I noticed you said you have 2 but was that 1 on driver and one on passenger. Or 2 on both sides. Curious as I just got the 6112s at top setting and want just a tad bit more. And to account for driver side lean. Thinking of one 1” on driver and one half inch on passenger. Once settled it should go from ~3.5” to about 3” even
