That's good to know, I assumed they could get rebuilt when the times comes around.
Another 3 years my truck would be past 400k I'd probably do a full suspension rebuild then I sorta am right now. At this point I'm gonna run this thing into the ground.

I would think the same. It’s not rocket science.

I wouldn't say the bodies themselves die, it's the seals and valving that need to be rebuilt.

Which would be the same as any steel bodied shock as well.

I’ve been running Elkas since May 2019 with zero issues. I’m thinking it’s time for a rebuild this year as I have about 75000km on them now. I live in Alberta, we get salt and calcium chloride (which destroys everything) on our roads. The only corrosion I have is on the stainless fittings and chipped parts of the coil. The shock bodies are spotless. Disregard the rubbing on the reservoirs. I didn’t check the clearance with my winters... and with the stock offset I had some rubbing...

That’s really positive feedback. Good to hear you’ve had that many kms without issue.

Not too familiar with Elka but good to see positive feedback.

do they require the same rebuilding after certain mileages like icon / kings?

All coilovers will need a rebuild eventually and the Elkas are no exception. No specific mileage recommendations are given by Elka (that I know at least).

However, Elkas have only been available for Tundras for about 3 years so data on time and mileage is still growing. Here in Alberta Canada there are lots of Tundras and Tacoma’s running them with generally very few rebuilds according to the local dealer. Last time I asked they mentioned one or two warranty replacements but that’s it.

Good to know. I'm torn between running something like OME / bilstein that is maintenance free.. I was quoted $2500 to rebuild my icons and that seems crazy to me given its half the price of the kit itself....

I second this. I spoke with a local dealer last week regarding rebuilds. The impression I got from them is I don't "need" a rebuild but it wouldn't be a bad idea as my mileage is getting up there on the shocks. I should really reach out to Elka to inquire what they recommend, but at this time I have no leaks or anything that would lead me to push to get them rebuilt. Just a feeling that preventative maintenance is better for the shock longevity.

I believe the rebuild kits for both front/rear are about $400 CDN. Then you are looking at about a day give or take to pull the shocks, rebuild and reinstall. My understanding is because they corrode less, you don't have to overhaul as much.

Considering Elka 2.5's. Did you go directly through Elka or a dealer for the best price?

When I bought there weren’t as many dealers so the choice was less. But I still recommend Krave in Calgary. Even the Elka website uses pics of trucks they build.

Thanks I'll check out Krave when it's time to pull the trigger. I've had Fox 2.0's on other trucks and they were ok, definitely better than stock.
For the Tundra I'm considering 6120's, vs Fox 2.5 non resi, vs Elka 2.5 non resi. Ran Elka shocks on a Grizzly 700 and they performed great and took a pounding well.

Good feedback. I’m torn between fox and Elka and have been thinking the aluminum body would be better in the long run.

Are new UCA’s required for the elka resi’s? Or, do you know if I could run stock UCA’s.
