Well yesterday I pulled the trigger and joined the Tundra owners club. Do I now get the secret decoder ring or get to learn the secret handshake?

After a lot of questions on here, grumbling and posts that were all over the place on my part I finally just made a deal on a truck. I probably overpaid in the current market and I lost my ass in my trade in equity, but I am still happy.

I am a recovering Ford addict and after owning 5 Ford trucks in my life Ford let me down on quality and service to where my OCD could not stand it anymore. My 2020 F-150 that I traded in was making all kinds of noises and rattles that Ford just kept calling normal. Anyway the deed is done and I am not looking back.

I ended up with a 2019 SR5 Upgrade pkg. with 56K miles and I purchased the Platinum Toyota 5/60 Used Vehicle Service Agreement. The VSA is supposed to be from Toyota and not 3rd party and I hope I didn't get screwed there and that they will honor it. Someone please speak up if I these VSA's are junk as I have 30 days to cancel it for a refund. The truck I purchased has some AZ pin striping but I hit a couple spots with the buffer after I arrived home and it comes right out since it is only in the clear coat. I dont know why dealers dont spend more time detailing but I suppose they are short on help too and it isnt worth their time?

It was a looong day as it is 100 miles to PHX, and the wife was not happy spending the whole day buying a truck, but she was a trooper and played bad cop for me. She is also an accountant so I cannot spend a nickle without answering for it.

We started out looking at a truck I found at one Toyota dealer and we had a bad experience there with pushy salesmen and they tried pushing high interest rates AND wanted a $2000 refurbishing fee for used vehicles. We messed around 3 hours there and ended up leaving.

We went to a second dealer to check out a truck on my list and it was a totally different experience. I had an offer on the table in 30 minutes and the entire staff were friendly and didnt feel slimy. Before signing the papers I checked out the truck as much as I wanted too and crawled under it. We did the paper work and were out of there in a couple hours.

I have a lot of research to do on here and I am already adding accessories to my Amazon list. I am off to spend the day in the garage buffing it out, hitting it with the carpet cleaner and adding my dash cam and aftermarket horn.

Thanks for the help and warm welcome here.

I’m a service advisor at Toyota and the VSA extended warranty is is a good program but there are still a lot of small things it does not cover. Be sure to read all the fine print and go down to your local dealer to have them explain anything youre unsure about.

congrats on your tundra purchase, you won’t regret it.

Congrats! You likely will never need the VSA, but that didn't stop me from getting one as well!

I am beat and might not be able to walk tomorrow. I detailed my truck today including

    Wash
    Claybar
    Decontaminate
    2 step polish
    wipe down with IPA
touch up paint on a few chips
1 coat of Jepson pain seal
    1 coat of Collinite 845
    coated the plastics
buffed the glass to take out spts
    power washed the underside
used the power carpet cleaner on the inside
    drank a few beers
    time for a nap.

BTW, when I power washed underneath it came nice and clean and the frame and diff were still black. My new 2020 Ford had rust on the diff when I purchased it.

I got one on my 96 Tacoma that I bought new, never used it. Had one on my 2007 FJ I bought as certified pre-owned. Made 2 small claims right at the end of the bumper to bumper part. Seat frame and leaky inclinometer. Went to extend it to 125,000 and found it was a dealer warranty and not official Toyota CPO.. It was free at least :)

Currently have a 2021 RAV4 and 2020 Tundra, both still under factory 3/36. I will probably get VSA, just waiting to see which one is best. Only 8000 miles on the RAV4 in the first year so may get 10 yr/75000 on that one. Since I am working 100% from home now and wife is a 5 mile round trip to her work, may get 10/75000 on the Tundra as well. Probably never use it, bit still... Nice to have :)

WOW--- that was a fast and furious ride -- Friday was full of which color, then it was how many miles, then it was the desperation of finding a truck ("finders Fee") and then a 100 mile trip on Saturday, returning home with your new LOVE.. -- but, hey seriously Gratulation on you new truck..

I've been there and know how you feel, lol. If you ever decide to look into a ceramic coating try out Apex Details metal oxide coating 3-5 yrs. Easy on easy off. It's actually based off an Artdeshine coating so it's top notch. I just did my black Tundra a few days ago. By the way nice truck.
